the amazing thing is that stotts got a total of 111 votes within the top three spots, but kerr only got 89 'top three' votes, pops got 62, and it tails off rapidly after that

they won all the games im cool w them getting all the awards only thing thats slightly weird is kerr didnt actually coach half of them

yeah this - Stotts totally deserves it but I'm not gonna make that argument

prob also would have voted for guys like joeger, bud & spo who had to radically alter their teams and/or style of play like halfway thru the season

pretty good roster imo besides the glaring weak spot at PF

they went into the season with a shot to be the second-best team in the east. def met expectations but seems like a weird placement.

yeah aside from lowry i think the raptors are a collection of pretty nice players, and one of them (carroll) was out for most of the year. i coulnd't point to exactly what casey has done there (and frankly i think they'll prob end up finding someone else to push them up another level) but i don't think there was anything preordained about them winning 56 games and challenging for the 1 seed.

yeah feels like they more or less met expectations whereas portland and to a lesser extent charlotte and boston exceeded them if you're gonna vote for someone with a second tier team

i mean i personally in my fake nba ballot would not have voted for dwayne casey but i don't begrudge him getting votes in the actual ballot

i do agree w/ you about those midtier coaches

there should be a special coaching award for the playoffs since so many of them get exposed

i honestly feel like pop deserves it every year. he had that team humming so quickly where I thought it would take at LEAST half the season to figure ut.

popovich gets all the respect he deserves and if COY came down to a lifetime achievement award he'd sweep the voting every year, but it's fair to allow other coaches a decent shot at recognition, too

this season the way pop took them to a 67-15 record was just mind blowing to me. it's not that they're not clearly talented and the second best in the west (maybe best, now), but that team didn't seem like a 67 win team going into this year.
