Georges Niang Cat?

Sorry To Be The Bearer Of Bad Poos (Leee), Friday, 4 March 2016 22:32 (ten years ago)

how bad is simmons shooting no one knows since hes never shot

lag∞n, Friday, 11 March 2016 16:23 (ten years ago)

well the first google result for "ben simmons jump shot" is Ben Simmons might be shooting with the wrong hand so that's probably not good.

call all destroyer, Friday, 11 March 2016 16:26 (ten years ago)

good lord

Simmons has attempted 265 non-jumpers so far this year. Despite being a left-handed shooter, only 10 of his non-jumpers were released with his left hand, 39 were with both hands, and 216 were with his right hand.

call all destroyer, Friday, 11 March 2016 16:27 (ten years ago)

thats plain weird

lag∞n, Friday, 11 March 2016 16:46 (ten years ago)

maybe its cause hes from down under

lag∞n, Friday, 11 March 2016 16:48 (ten years ago)

*sits ben simmons down, puts arm over shoulder*

"ben, do you think you might be.....right-handed?"

call all destroyer, Friday, 11 March 2016 16:52 (ten years ago)

lmao

lag∞n, Friday, 11 March 2016 17:00 (ten years ago)

that article seems a bit unfair in a specifically woj way but also ingram does seem better?

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 15 March 2016 14:56 (ten years ago)

yeah im liking ingram but simmons seem frequently utterly brilliant too

lag∞n, Tuesday, 15 March 2016 15:20 (ten years ago)

the total non shooting is obvs a huge red flag

lag∞n, Tuesday, 15 March 2016 15:20 (ten years ago)

also like, ingram could be really fucking good

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 15 March 2016 16:23 (ten years ago)

i'm willing to give simmons a bit of a pass on the shooting stuff since it seems like he doesn't even have the basics -- i.e. which hand is your dominant hand -- down. like if he could even build up to a lebron-esque game of finishing very well at the rim with a midrange jumper that comes and goes and a passable three point shot then he should be a star given the rest of his game. but lebron is also a crazy unique individual so i see where the concerns about simmons' make up come in, it just seems a bit early to fault him.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 15 March 2016 16:26 (ten years ago)

but it will be really tough to make the number one pick either way

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 15 March 2016 16:29 (ten years ago)

the nets not having a lottery pick until 2019 is still so unreal to me

ciderpress, Tuesday, 15 March 2016 16:34 (ten years ago)

v cool B-)

lag∞n, Tuesday, 15 March 2016 20:47 (ten years ago)

You know who Simmons reminds me of is Greg Monroe.

Sorry To Be The Bearer Of Bad Poos (Leee), Tuesday, 15 March 2016 21:01 (ten years ago)

was there a heated argument about monroe on this board in the past few days or did i dream that?

ciderpress, Tuesday, 15 March 2016 21:18 (ten years ago)

it happened about 24 hours ago!

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 15 March 2016 21:19 (ten years ago)

good profile of a guy who was probably really hard to profile (it's kawhi btw): http://www.si.com/nba/2016/03/15/kawhi-leonard-spurs-tim-duncan-gregg-popovich-tony-parker-manu-ginobili

ingram made an extremely nice block

lag∞n, Thursday, 17 March 2016 18:13 (ten years ago)

there it is https://twitter.com/Mike_Schmitz/status/710530512201207808

lag∞n, Thursday, 17 March 2016 18:21 (ten years ago)

ingram is built like a damn spider

call all destroyer, Thursday, 17 March 2016 18:24 (ten years ago)

hes v thin but he has a p big frame like his shoulders are way wider than durants

lag∞n, Thursday, 17 March 2016 18:26 (ten years ago)

yeah was just thinking that. he could have like a rondo type of frame when he puts a little weight on

Spottie, Thursday, 17 March 2016 18:28 (ten years ago)

it's hard for me to look at him and not think "this guy is going to be very very good in the nba"

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 March 2016 19:00 (ten years ago)

he def seems like hes going to be very very good

lag∞n, Thursday, 17 March 2016 19:00 (ten years ago)

draft xpress currently has him at #1

lag∞n, Thursday, 17 March 2016 19:00 (ten years ago)

striaght up rooting for duke to make the champ game so i cn keep watching ingram

lag∞n, Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:11 (ten years ago)

people haven't seemed to realize that coach k shifted duke to the one and done model and as such has had a bunch of really likable ballers in the last few years

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:12 (ten years ago)

was just thinking that

lag∞n, Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:14 (ten years ago)

like traditionally basically created the one dimensonal hateable white but grayson allen is all threes and crazy drives to the basket i love watching him

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:14 (ten years ago)

duke basically created*

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:14 (ten years ago)

cant beat kentuky gotta join em

lag∞n, Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:15 (ten years ago)

yeah and UNC has basically swung back the other direction, it's interesting

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:19 (ten years ago)

ingram was basically seen as a UNC lock for several years but ended up going w/ duke in the end

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:20 (ten years ago)

for a while it seemed like going w a second tier team that ran nba offense and didnt have other stars was the way to juice draft stock but calipari changed the math via putting 6 guys in the first round every year

lag∞n, Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:24 (ten years ago)

allens got 22 w 2 left in the 1st

lag∞n, Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:30 (ten years ago)

i haven't watched him at all, is he good or just college good

k3vin k., Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:31 (ten years ago)

hell be a pro but prob not that great

lag∞n, Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:33 (ten years ago)

tho when u can shoot anything is possible

lag∞n, Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:34 (ten years ago)

hes projected as a bubble 1st rounder now

lag∞n, Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:35 (ten years ago)

wait hold on there's another plumlee?

k3vin k., Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:37 (ten years ago)

theres an endless supply of plumlees

lag∞n, Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:38 (ten years ago)

i think the thing w/ allen is that he's only listed at 6' 5" so he's more a combo guard than a 3 and d guy. if he was 2 or 3 inches taller he would be a lottery pick. i.e. he's much more skilled than sam dekker but dekker has enough height to play on the wing.

but l feel like a lot of teams still have pretty poor guard depth. a lot of teams frankly don't even have three good guards so i feel like there's def a place for him in the league as a scorer off the bench.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:44 (ten years ago)

im a plumlee but when my family immigrated from plumland they changed their family name to bison bc thats the english equivalent

get a long, little doggy (m bison), Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:46 (ten years ago)

six four/five is plenty big to play the nba 2 if he really is that big, but seems like he doesnt have great athleticism either so

lag∞n, Saturday, 19 March 2016 19:46 (ten years ago)

nah jr. might have been a fourth year jr. tho?

J0rdan S., Sunday, 27 March 2016 01:24 (ten years ago)

huh yeah i think he was 22, figured he was a sr.

Clay, Sunday, 27 March 2016 01:25 (ten years ago)

he was a 4-year player, he's more or less a senior and belongs in the same discussion as the rest of those guys

k3vin k., Sunday, 27 March 2016 01:32 (ten years ago)

feel like hield should at least be as good as mccollum. fwiw mccollum also just had an insane shooting year as a senior.

circles, Sunday, 27 March 2016 03:28 (ten years ago)

some guys are late bloomers whatcha gonna do

Clay, Sunday, 27 March 2016 03:41 (ten years ago)

lol that red trendline really illuminates that he got better then regressed then improved again huh we are truly in the age of data

Clay, Sunday, 27 March 2016 06:09 (ten years ago)

its a testament to his remarkable work ethic

lag∞n, Sunday, 27 March 2016 06:20 (ten years ago)

lag∞n, Monday, 28 March 2016 20:40 (ten years ago)

two weeks pass...

celtics ~30% chance of getting one of the top two picks http://www.celticsblog.com/2016/4/14/11429164/updated-boston-celtics-2016-nba-draft-odds

lag∞n, Friday, 15 April 2016 20:01 (ten years ago)

Fuck the Celtics.

Mr. Snrub, Friday, 15 April 2016 20:42 (ten years ago)

rude

lag∞n, Friday, 15 April 2016 20:47 (ten years ago)

As a nuggets and celtics fan I wish this draft was better but maybe more international guys get in

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 17 April 2016 22:57 (ten years ago)

nugs are gonna have to either make some sort of move or draft and stash, they're gonna have too many dudes

k3vin k., Sunday, 17 April 2016 23:23 (ten years ago)

they've been drafting well

J0rdan S., Sunday, 17 April 2016 23:36 (ten years ago)

The nuggets def have too many players... They're at least 2 deep at every position other than PG (and Augustin isn't half bad). although that includes 2 SFs who are always injured.

Maybe time to move faried.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 23 April 2016 23:00 (ten years ago)

four weeks pass...

wait david thorpe sold me on simmons http://es.pn/1VeiQRM

J0rdan S., Saturday, 21 May 2016 00:55 (ten years ago)

wow, he is really high on him. as much as people have talked about length in recent years, it's interesting that simmons is notably not long for a 6'10" guy.

circles, Saturday, 21 May 2016 03:59 (ten years ago)

did not even realize he was that tall

Spottie, Saturday, 21 May 2016 04:12 (ten years ago)

yeah, maybe not, different sources have different numbers, and he didn't do the official combine measurements.

circles, Saturday, 21 May 2016 04:25 (ten years ago)

he does not look 6'10" irl, might be 6'8"

micah, Saturday, 21 May 2016 08:48 (ten years ago)

Concerns about Simmons?

The knock on Simmons as a shooter is somewhat overrated. Let's not forget that another do-it-all type of NBA star was not a good shooter in college. In two seasons, Kawhi Leonard shot 20.5 percent and 29.1 percent from 3, yet is a career 39-percent shooter in the NBA -- making 44 percent this season.

Simmons has a good-looking stroke, but he never looked as if he was willing to take 3-pointers, and was hesitant to take a lot of jump shots, period. Perhaps this was due to a coaching decision, as he was able to drive by or pass over most defenders. In the NBA, it is fair to expect he will shoot a lot of 3s and be at least good at it, in time.

[waves hands until they fall off]

lag∞n, Monday, 23 May 2016 00:01 (ten years ago)

yeah i am not sure how you get from 'he's not a good shooter' to 'he will shoot a lot of 3s and be good at it' that quickly

ciderpress, Monday, 23 May 2016 00:05 (ten years ago)

but simmons form is kinda terrible

micah, Monday, 23 May 2016 01:02 (ten years ago)

four weeks pass...

Still think this draft is terrible. This is the draft where I'm gonna be that guy finally.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 20 June 2016 00:05 (nine years ago)

is bumping this thread during the national anthem of game 7 like one of those lebron subtweets where he tweets about a game being shown on nba tv while the warriors are disemboweling a team on tnt

J0rdan S., Monday, 20 June 2016 00:06 (nine years ago)

anyway this draft is terrible, the celtics got screwed

J0rdan S., Monday, 20 June 2016 00:06 (nine years ago)

blazers have no picks this draft. I am pretty non-committal about it. it will be interesting to see who gets simmons and whether he is worth his salt.

a little too mature to be cute (Aimless), Monday, 20 June 2016 03:48 (nine years ago)

Absolutely

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 20 June 2016 03:54 (nine years ago)

one year passes...

Who would you take with the second pick in this draft?

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Wednesday, 11 April 2018 04:43 (eight years ago)

guerschon yabusele

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 April 2018 04:52 (eight years ago)

in all seriousness the top 3 are looking like sure fire allstars, simmons is obvs the best and ingram and brown are looking pretty even, id prob take brown if i had to choose but ingram cld easily turn out better he was a total revelation taking over ballhandling duties for the lakers this year, murray goes 4th then everyone else is looking pretty rough

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 April 2018 04:57 (eight years ago)

o wait i missed taurean prince i like him too sabonis and brogdon are dece a few other guys will prob pan out to some extent, anyway its prob rare to have the best three players actually go in the top 3 spots but it looks like thats what happened here

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 April 2018 05:06 (eight years ago)
