not a garbageman, i am garbage, man (m bison), Thursday, 21 May 2015 13:36 (eleven years ago)

does anyone think the hawks even take this six?

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 May 2015 13:43 (eleven years ago)

is jr going to keep shooting 66% on threes?

call all destroyer, Thursday, 21 May 2015 13:58 (eleven years ago)

if carroll is out, no. if he's back to 100% they can still win the series

props to hibachi for the ariza comp for barnes, that's pretty otm

k3vin k., Thursday, 21 May 2015 13:59 (eleven years ago)

if carroll is out, JR will shoot worse?

Nhex, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:11 (eleven years ago)

i mean JR hit tough shots but he's also been shooting well ever since he got to cleveland, it's not like it was james jones making 8 threes

also kyrie scored 10 points

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:12 (eleven years ago)

he went 8-12 from 3 and had 28 pts cmon

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:15 (eleven years ago)

on the other hand kyrie scoring 10 cld easily just be where kyries at

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:16 (eleven years ago)

yeah i'm not betting on a huge uptick from kyrie

call all destroyer, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:16 (eleven years ago)

it seems like it was a pretty close game so idg why it would cause us to question whether the hawks can get to game 6

call all destroyer, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:17 (eleven years ago)

i guess mostly i feel less like something is going to happen to the cavs and more like people are expecting the hawks of january to suddenly reappear out of nowhere when there's no signs that's happening

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:17 (eleven years ago)

it was still a close game tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:18 (eleven years ago)

i mean if the hawks of january do reappear the cavs are toast

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:18 (eleven years ago)

seems like the hawks need to sag on bron make him hit a jump shot then double as soon as he get in post position

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:19 (eleven years ago)

the cavs have lost 2 games total in the playoffs by a combined 7 points vs much better teams, the hawks very well could have lost a series to a team coached by randy wittman

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:20 (eleven years ago)

if the hawks even made double the threes they actually made (8 instead of 4), and the makes were during that final Q4 drive they prob wouldve won the game

slothroprhymes, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:21 (eleven years ago)

yeah the hawks missed all sorts of makable shots

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:22 (eleven years ago)

carroll being out is obvs huge tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:22 (eleven years ago)

the reliance on bron isos nearly killed the cavs, like the hawks got good opportunities of misses in Q4 and blew them but they shouldnt really have had them in the first place all things being equal

slothroprhymes, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:22 (eleven years ago)

*off

xp yeah its not like bazemore and mike scott are gonna reliably fill that spot in like a platoon

slothroprhymes, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:23 (eleven years ago)

the hawks just aren't the same team

korver took 5 shots

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:26 (eleven years ago)

korver shd def take mroe than 5 shots

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:27 (eleven years ago)

i mean on the one hand the hawks did not look great but on the other cleveland is also bad

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:27 (eleven years ago)

how are the hawks not bad

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:36 (eleven years ago)

i just said theyre bad!

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:42 (eleven years ago)

no you said they "did not look great"

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:44 (eleven years ago)

but this is how they've looked for the last two months

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:45 (eleven years ago)

i agree we are prob not going to see peak hawks in this series but that doesnt mean theyre not good enough to beat the cavs, however having fallen behind a game at home and lost a key starter i certainly wldnt bet on them

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:47 (eleven years ago)

no you said they "did not look great"

― J0rdan S., Thursday, May 21, 2015 10:44 AM (5 minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

and fwiw in that post there are multiple indications that "did not look great" and "bad" are roughly equivalent cmon!

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:51 (eleven years ago)

btw no official word but internet sources are saying carroll has a knee sprain no structural damage, obvs if its bad enough that wld be enough to keep him out of the series anyway, but great news for him if true

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:56 (eleven years ago)

yeah more important he doesn't cost himself $30 million

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 May 2015 15:04 (eleven years ago)

"did not look great" implies room for improvement and "bad" does not. i think there is room, korver could play better, millsap could def play better, german rondo could play better.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 21 May 2015 15:04 (eleven years ago)

i don't think the Hawks have a prayer without carroll. he's their leading scorer in the postseason and the only player they have with a prayer of checking bron

k3vin k., Thursday, 21 May 2015 15:06 (eleven years ago)

korver also had 5 points taken away on offensive fouls, scott foster was going pretty ham in the first half

k3vin k., Thursday, 21 May 2015 15:08 (eleven years ago)

the fact that the hawks badly need the presence of demarre carroll might be broadly illustrative whether he's playing or not

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 May 2015 15:08 (eleven years ago)

also haberstroh has been writing some recently about how korver and german rondo can't figure out how to play together https://twitter.com/tomhaberstroh/status/601349612587393025

mostly i feel like the hawks were a well oiled machine earlier in the season but now bud is kinda throwing things at the wall rotationwise and it just doesn't seem like it's working

u cld say the same abt the cavs and jr smith! only carroll is a much better player than smith

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 15:22 (eleven years ago)

german rondo looked totally lost and confused

Good news on DeMarre Carroll: MRI reveals no structural damage, will be treated around the clock, per source. Should be listed as day to day

slothroprhymes, Thursday, 21 May 2015 15:24 (eleven years ago)

wow

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 15:25 (eleven years ago)

Heh foster really did have himself a game I wonder if Joey Crawford hit him with a congratulatory phone call afterward

juice college (agent hibachi), Thursday, 21 May 2015 15:58 (eleven years ago)

Whoever the poor trainer is who will be hanging out working demarre''s knee ligaments at three in the morning, do not envy

Buds does feel a little bit rookie coach-ish this time, bet he will be much more confident next year, though the game where he yanked his starters and let the bench get them back in it last round was fairly ballsy and astute, I mean he's def not like Monty Williams level in over his head but the reps will def be good for him

juice college (agent hibachi), Thursday, 21 May 2015 16:03 (eleven years ago)

feel like the hawks late season/playoff collapse is instructive as to how difficult playing spurs style starless ball movement offense really is, you have to totally commit to it for the entire shot clock everyone has to know what the next action is a move seamlessly, the hawks offense is breaking down into isos way too much late in the shot clock which almost never happens to the spurs

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 16:06 (eleven years ago)

also have to push the ball every possession to get into yr offense as fast as possible

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 16:07 (eleven years ago)

i mean the hawks shd be slicing up the cavs defense!
