it seems like it was a pretty close game so idg why it would cause us to question whether the hawks can get to game 6

i guess mostly i feel less like something is going to happen to the cavs and more like people are expecting the hawks of january to suddenly reappear out of nowhere when there's no signs that's happening

the cavs have lost 2 games total in the playoffs by a combined 7 points vs much better teams, the hawks very well could have lost a series to a team coached by randy wittman

if the hawks even made double the threes they actually made (8 instead of 4), and the makes were during that final Q4 drive they prob wouldve won the game

yeah the hawks missed all sorts of makable shots

carroll being out is obvs huge tho

the reliance on bron isos nearly killed the cavs, like the hawks got good opportunities of misses in Q4 and blew them but they shouldnt really have had them in the first place all things being equal

and fwiw in that post there are multiple indications that "did not look great" and "bad" are roughly equivalent cmon!

btw no official word but internet sources are saying carroll has a knee sprain no structural damage, obvs if its bad enough that wld be enough to keep him out of the series anyway, but great news for him if true

yeah more important he doesn't cost himself $30 million

"did not look great" implies room for improvement and "bad" does not. i think there is room, korver could play better, millsap could def play better, german rondo could play better.

i don't think the Hawks have a prayer without carroll. he's their leading scorer in the postseason and the only player they have with a prayer of checking bron

Buds does feel a little bit rookie coach-ish this time, bet he will be much more confident next year, though the game where he yanked his starters and let the bench get them back in it last round was fairly ballsy and astute, I mean he's def not like Monty Williams level in over his head but the reps will def be good for him

feel like the hawks late season/playoff collapse is instructive as to how difficult playing spurs style starless ball movement offense really is, you have to totally commit to it for the entire shot clock everyone has to know what the next action is a move seamlessly, the hawks offense is breaking down into isos way too much late in the shot clock which almost never happens to the spurs

also have to push the ball every possession to get into yr offense as fast as possible

i mean the hawks shd be slicing up the cavs defense!
