rose 3 pointer thing reminds me that the only guy who solved the riddle of how to get Baron Davis to stop shooting 3s was.... Donald Sterling

have a feeling rose wld prob be susceptible to sustained public ridicule from his boss

lag∞n, Sunday, 10 May 2015 23:59 (eleven years ago)

rose takes some selfish shots but with pau out he's only ever playing with max one player who has a chance in hell of creating a shot

J0rdan S., Monday, 11 May 2015 00:01 (eleven years ago)

w kyrie hobbled might not be a bad idea to goto the rose/brooks backcourt more

lag∞n, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:03 (eleven years ago)

btw i don't dislike watching chris paul play (let's dig up some ILH posts from hornets-lakers first round). i just don't like him.

J0rdan S., Monday, 11 May 2015 00:03 (eleven years ago)

omg u said u liked watching the clippers more w/o him in this very thread!

lag∞n, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:04 (eleven years ago)

thru the lens of me wanting to root for them

J0rdan S., Monday, 11 May 2015 00:07 (eleven years ago)

Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley struggling to figure out why a team that went from Pat Beverley to Jason Terry as starting pg is having defensive issues

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:07 (eleven years ago)

i want the clippers to win begrudgingly bcuz clips-warriors is the best possible west finals and i thought their no-cp underdog vibe was fun which made it easier to root for them

he takes a LOT of bad, dumb 3 pointers that would be called "selfish" if he hadn't been sanctified by the media for whatever fucking reason

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:17 (eleven years ago)

it would seem coaching international ball does not in fact prepare you for the NBA, least not by default

slothroprhymes, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:18 (eleven years ago)

lol matt if you can't understand why rose is viewed the way he is in spite of the flaws he clearly has I dunno man it seems obvious

slothroprhymes, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:19 (eleven years ago)

what is it. What is the great thing about Derrick Rose

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:20 (eleven years ago)

did he rescue a family from a fire

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:20 (eleven years ago)

chris paul is everything right in the world

k3vin k., Monday, 11 May 2015 00:20 (eleven years ago)

what a time

J0rdan S., Monday, 11 May 2015 00:21 (eleven years ago)

my life really went downhill that year, I think I started posting on here too

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:22 (eleven years ago)

I'm not even going to say he's great because Iiterally I just said he had clear flaws, he has all the #narrative and native son of the city stuff behind him that the media obviously eats up, if that stuff annoys you, ok, but it's pretty obvious why he gets put on a pedestal and pretending not to understand that seems deliberately obtuse

slothroprhymes, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:22 (eleven years ago)

he's put on a pedestal because he's from Chicago? That's it?

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:23 (eleven years ago)

Stephon Marbury was from Coney Island

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:23 (eleven years ago)

obviously there's some reasons they treat him like a basketball angel but they can't be good reasons

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:24 (eleven years ago)

ohhhhh myyyyy gooddddd you're trolling, you have to be, this is like when people would say they didn't understand why jeter was as huge as he was because jeter kinda sucked in various ways (which he did)

slothroprhymes, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:25 (eleven years ago)

in jordan's defense as incredible as chris paul is, Young chris paul was even better. watching some old highlights now, and man

the clippers environment def has something to do with the perception of him too

k3vin k., Monday, 11 May 2015 00:26 (eleven years ago)

still wonder what lakers cp3 would've been like, maybe they never run into their 2012/13 wall

thank god that didn't happen

slothroprhymes, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:32 (eleven years ago)

rereading that 2011 thread is a blast. fun times

k3vin k., Monday, 11 May 2015 00:37 (eleven years ago)

whoa howard is pretty lucky it's the playoffs or he might have been ejected for that

k3vin k., Monday, 11 May 2015 00:39 (eleven years ago)

Haha Barnes was like one crack away from getting Dwight ejected in less than four minutes

juice college (agent hibachi), Monday, 11 May 2015 00:39 (eleven years ago)

yo dwight just pushed that ref away twice!

lag∞n, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:39 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:43 (eleven years ago)

cp3 looking much more mobile

lag∞n, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:45 (eleven years ago)

what is it. What is the great thing about Derrick Rose

― Matt Armstrong, Sunday, May 10, 2015 8:20 PM (24 minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

I frankly don't really get the Cult of Rose either, but I think swooping in and getting the MVP Karl Malone style in the year that Lebron was the big bad villain for having gone to Miami is still a big part of it for old out of touch (white) sportswriters

juice college (agent hibachi), Monday, 11 May 2015 00:47 (eleven years ago)

can't wait for the massive cheers austin will receive when he goes in for the first time

which will prob be followed by a pratfall

slothroprhymes, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:47 (eleven years ago)

xp the out of touch white sportswriters don't like rose much though

slothroprhymes, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:48 (eleven years ago)

i think a lot of it is just that nobody knows how to evaluate a player of rose's caliber coming back from the injuries he's had

J0rdan S., Monday, 11 May 2015 00:50 (eleven years ago)

Ok I'm fine with the hack strategy but man does it threaten to turn these games into sox-yanks 4 hour jerkfests

juice college (agent hibachi), Monday, 11 May 2015 00:52 (eleven years ago)

the only reason i can think for rose getting the treatment he gets is the weird solemnity with which he carries himself, like he never looks like he's enjoying anything so he must be "important"

call all destroyer, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:52 (eleven years ago)

poor Austin's dunk doesn't count

slothroprhymes, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:56 (eleven years ago)

lol kept going despite like 3 dudes tapping jordan repeatedly

slothroprhymes, Monday, 11 May 2015 00:56 (eleven years ago)

hawse sighting

lag∞n, Monday, 11 May 2015 01:00 (eleven years ago)

Still can't get used to idea of Blake as point forward no matter how many times he dribbled behind the back

, Monday, 11 May 2015 01:01 (eleven years ago)

Hawes needs some tattoos.

Jeff, Monday, 11 May 2015 01:14 (eleven years ago)

i do wonder if rose's lack of development can be tied to the injuries or would have been the case anyway. seems like so many sportswriters/whoever were looking for signs of the old rose or bemoaning what could've been, they weren't noticing the lack of development or if they were it was tangentially, another wrinkle to the late great derrick rose narrative. contrast to the speculation around blake griffin who came in the league two years later really (drafted a year later but missed rookie season) and the nitpicking until recently about him not taking his game to another level. ie if rose turns into marbury or steve francis or insert name here it's gonna get chalked up to the tragedy of derrick rose but isn't it possible this is close to the player he would've been anyway?
