Paul Pierce isn't soft either, it's more about being really dramatic

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 3 May 2015 19:27 (eleven years ago)

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 3 May 2015 19:27 (eleven years ago)

ugh - hawks shooting was a big issue w/ the nets, chalked it up to horford and milsap injuries but was hoping they'd shook it off w/ game 6. hawks d i can't explain, losing thabo hurts yeah but he missed a huge chunk of the season when they were fine w/o him. i was hoping we'd at least make ecf cuz that would be the best the atlanta hawks have ever done and was ecstatic when the bulls ended up on the cavs side of the bracket cuz it would weaken whoever did make it to the ecf plus we owned the nets and wizards all season. now, not so much. this team was unlikely to win a championship as composed and i've been wondering what moves they could and should make. i love pg's and i love teague but i'll admit when i watched the clips and wiz play this year i was coveting pretty hard. paul esp haunting cuz that's the one time i found looking at past drafts over the past 30 or so years where the hawks really blew it (not counting cases where everybody blew it like the spurs w/ manu and parker or something), i thought maybe it was the case w/ the lebron draft cuz that draft was so crazy loaded and we traded our pick but even there we only would've gotten like tj ford or something. it was super well known the fans wanted paul and that team at the time desperately needed a pg even. anyway i'll be there for game 2, maybe we can turn it around.

They were fine without him, but certainly not as good, right?

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 3 May 2015 20:40 (eleven years ago)

"By no means am I Dr. Benjamin Carson." - Jalen Rose, on his lack of medical expertise

polyphonic, Sunday, 3 May 2015 20:41 (eleven years ago)

they went 17-13 in games he didn't play... xp holy shit Jalen

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 3 May 2015 20:43 (eleven years ago)

yikes, didn't realize their record was that bad w/o him. could've sworn he went out around the time of the streak.

balls, Sunday, 3 May 2015 20:48 (eleven years ago)

thabo played 20mins a game for the hawks for 50 games this season doubt he was v key either way

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 20:51 (eleven years ago)

otto porter has turned into a professional basketball player

balls, Sunday, 3 May 2015 20:53 (eleven years ago)

worth noting hawks are performing somewhere in the neighborhood of what most ppl wld prob guess based on their roster

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 20:54 (eleven years ago)

ben carson btw is one of the most accomplished living physicians in the world and revered by the black community, no amount of bullshit conservative politics are gonna reverse that

their offense was almost exactly the same with him on the floor and their defense was dramatically better with him on the floor. We can try to find explanations for that which aren't Thabo based but it is what it is.

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 3 May 2015 20:56 (eleven years ago)

we can try to connect that to observations abt the winning % with or without him... or not :)

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 20:57 (eleven years ago)

idk what you mean by that

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 3 May 2015 20:59 (eleven years ago)

youre making two observations
1.the hawks defense was better while he was in the game
2. the hawks record was better while he healthy

are those two things related or no

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:01 (eleven years ago)

was thabos 20mins of good D a game the cause of the hawks going on an insane tear

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:03 (eleven years ago)

maybe he shdve been starting

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:03 (eleven years ago)

maybe he shdve been on the allstar team

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:03 (eleven years ago)

personally i think they were just clicking and playing over their heads

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:05 (eleven years ago)

nah, other than demarre who's really kept us alive the past few games i'd say the rest of the starting five is underperforming either due to injuries (horford + milsap), teams focusing on them + possible regression (korver), or who knows (teague). i still think sub out teague for wall and strengthen up the bench and this team is a legit title contender.

balls, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:06 (eleven years ago)

They were essentially the same on offense when he was in the game, significantly better on defense, and more likely to win the game when he was active. As I said there's ways to explain this without admitting that Thabo was important to them but it's an argument made from behind the 8 ball and would take some legwork.

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:06 (eleven years ago)

he also had 2 significant injuries this season, so you have to argue that this coincidence happened twice.

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:08 (eleven years ago)

so youre saying that thabo is the key to the hawks current slide or naw

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:08 (eleven years ago)

his 20mins a game of good D

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:08 (eleven years ago)

lmaoooo

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:09 (eleven years ago)

they're in the second round of the playoffs and just lost a close game, they aren't being demoted to the D League

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:10 (eleven years ago)

they r playing a lot worse then they were earlier in the season

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:11 (eleven years ago)

right but that decline almost exactly coincided with Thabo's first injury so that's a problem for your position that you actually have to come up with evidence to dispute beyond lmao

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:13 (eleven years ago)

when it happened I was like whatever bazemore is fine but that hasn't panned out

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:14 (eleven years ago)

whats that expression about coronation?

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:15 (eleven years ago)

lol correlation
