good as opportunity as any to just take the fine

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:05 (eleven years ago)

well hopefully chris paul can find some balls to punch on the way home so he can sleep in peace

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:06 (eleven years ago)

yeah figured that's the strategy, i mean someone's gotta say something xp

Clay, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:06 (eleven years ago)

go to bed jordan

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:07 (eleven years ago)

i think the clippers would have gotten a worse shot anyway had cp gotten the ball on that last possession. he would've been moving away from the basket, catching the ball at like half court, with kawhi on him, with 4 seconds left.

― J0rdan S., Wednesday, April 29, 2015 2:05 AM (1 minute ago)

1) he was absolutely carving the spurs up with the high pick and roll
2) it was like 6.8 seconds
3) he was fouled off the ball

k3vin k., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:07 (eleven years ago)

"I don't complain much but I think we got some really tough calls tonight"

This fucking guy lol

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:07 (eleven years ago)

his nba epitaph should read "here lies chris paul, a transcendent talent who will instead be remembered as a borderline cheat. he never made the conference finals."

i think of this j0rdan post literally every time i watch cp3 play btw

Clay, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:08 (eleven years ago)

>:{

k3vin k., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:09 (eleven years ago)

he will be remembered as a board line cheat by like 3 strangely obsessed message board posters at least one of whom thinks kobe bryant is like omg the best

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:09 (eleven years ago)

i mean blake with a clean run at the rim with deandre only having to box out a point guard is pretty good offense, they basically just caught a bad bounce off the rim

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:10 (eleven years ago)

one of the others just has a bad prediction stuck in his head for some reason

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:10 (eleven years ago)

he won't be remembered as a borderline cheat but he will be remembered as a guy who could never get past the second round, that's not really a discussion

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:11 (eleven years ago)

ha I don't necessarily agree I just love that post for some reason, love scorched earth j0rdan basically

Clay, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:11 (eleven years ago)

u realize he still plays in the nba right

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:12 (eleven years ago)

Jord is right, b griff got stonewalled by old man river in the clutch. No one cares what Karl Malone did in the rest of game 6, they just remember MJ stripping the ball from him. This isn't an elimination game so it's a minor scale but that stat line he had doesn't mean shit.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:12 (eleven years ago)

also like this guy will be remembered for a stupid thing that ppl who dont understand the game think is not a very impressive thing to gloat over!

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:13 (eleven years ago)

he's putting up a 30-13-7 against tim duncan and the defending champs, fuck does it matter which round it is

was a joke chill

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:14 (eleven years ago)

blake also got the ball back and was promptly fouled u guys r so dumb with yr instant mythologizing

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:14 (eleven years ago)

uncalled foul btw, which fits the pattern of the actually most noteworthy thing abt this game

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:15 (eleven years ago)

i mean cp is gonna be defined by what he didn't accomplish

also like /this guy will be remembered for a stupid thing that ppl who dont understand the game think/ is not a very impressive thing to gloat over!

there's many players across sports who didn't win titles and that ended up defining their careers to some extent and chris paul will be one of those players, if he doesn't. there are worse things, of course.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:15 (eleven years ago)

haha blake was not fouled, he got the ball stripped before he went up

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:16 (eleven years ago)

JORDAN HIS CAREER HIS ONGOING DO U UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF TIME

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:16 (eleven years ago)

also u r straight up repping for one of the stupidest most pointless uninteresting things abt sports

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:17 (eleven years ago)

i mean, obviously if chris paul wins something, what i'm saying will be irrelevant. i don't think i need to add a disclaimer..................

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:17 (eleven years ago)

does grantland have comments go post this garbage there

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:17 (eleven years ago)

write bill simmons a letter

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:18 (eleven years ago)

i didn't even bring it up!

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:18 (eleven years ago)

loll

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:18 (eleven years ago)

"actually blake griffin scored 35 points" is a very interesting point though

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:19 (eleven years ago)

What was cwebb's line when he called the timeout when they didn't have one

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:20 (eleven years ago)

no one will remember he put up 35-14-7 all anyone can talk about is the incredibly looming second half

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:21 (eleven years ago)

remember when lebron actually put up a triple double in game 6 of the 2010 eastern semis? this is the one thing people talk about from that game.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:24 (eleven years ago)

Coming up on ESPN Classic, "the 35-14-7 game"

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:26 (eleven years ago)

its non elimination first round game played while most of the country was asleep that people will be talking about for decades

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:27 (eleven years ago)

all i said was that if the clippers lose in game 6, that really bad second half and getting hilariously packed by an elderly person is going to loom over blake next year, which...... is true!

blake is in the "what have you won" stage of his career, so things like that matter. blake putting up 35 and 14 isn't news.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:31 (eleven years ago)

Too bad for the clippers cp3 didn't get called for a violation on that danny green ft

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:32 (eleven years ago)

no one is ever going to remember or thinl about blakes second half of that game except now the readers of this message board

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:33 (eleven years ago)

and thats final goodnight

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:34 (eleven years ago)

The only things people will remember about this game are questionable calls and Blake getting blocked by a geriatric Duncan which is jord's point basically

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:34 (eleven years ago)

ppl will remember the dre basket interference actually if anything

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:35 (eleven years ago)

but mostly not anything

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:36 (eleven years ago)

if the clippers lose this series their whole offseason is gonna be about how their team has never won shit and if you think blake getting owned by duncan and missing the final shot is going to be forgotten in that discussion you are crazy

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 06:37 (eleven years ago)

this is the clippers set that griffin got blocked on

seems like normally he spaces out at the top of the key but tonight for some reason he decided to drive straight into duncan

micah, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 07:23 (eleven years ago)

just finished, my hot takes:

austin rivers played like austin rivers. jamal was shooting balls off the side of the rim he was so bad. hack a DJ kinda worked. chris paul stutter step move on d green was a thing of beauty. tech on paul was embarrassing. don't think blake was fouled on that second attempt after the GOAT blocked him, looked like he either just lost it on the way up or it got knocked out, great no call. clippers 3 point game disappeared. the travel on blake was a legit call he took two steps before he put the ball down.

i won't remember blake's not-that-great second half but what i will remember is that Boris step back.

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Wednesday, 29 April 2015 07:45 (eleven years ago)

also RIP dirk. every time i watched him this year he looked so labored and heavy footed, I guess he has one more year?

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Wednesday, 29 April 2015 07:56 (eleven years ago)

I passed out 2 mins into the 4th quarter and was woozy in the 3rd so I def missed some stuff but here's a hopefully evenhanded take:

blake played great in all of what I saw, I can't believe I missed him getting stuffed by the prophet duncan. anyway does that invalidate blake almost getting a triple double? of course not. how could it? will it be well remembered? well...yeah. largely as a result of media/fan perceptions about blake and his personality and the clips in general. is that fair? not really but it's definitely a factor, it's just something unavoidable about how the clips have developed in the past few years

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 11:23 (eleven years ago)

not to mention it stems from the sports narrative/mythologizing stuff that goon is complaining about upthread. is that stuff kinda dumb? of course and it should never be seen as more important than actual performance but it's impossible to ignore it completely

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 11:28 (eleven years ago)

if the clippers lose this series their whole offseason is gonna be about how their team has never won shit and if you think blake getting owned by duncan and missing the final shot is going to be forgotten in that discussion you are crazy

― J0rdan S., Wednesday, April 29, 2015 2:37 AM (4 hours ago)

their offseason should be about addressing the bench tbh

cp3 is under contract for 2 more seasons with the clips. if he can't get a ring there he can always go back to new orleans to play with the brow

k3vin k., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 11:37 (eleven years ago)

if he can't get a ring there he can always go back to new orleans to play with the brow

i've never considered this, it would be amazing

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 April 2015 14:14 (eleven years ago)

interesting, even with AD's forthcoming (and well-deserved) supermax contract, pelis will prob have a reasonable amount of cap space in 2017-18, the year of cp3's player option
