yeah i was thinking that the bron era heat model might be a more realistic blueprint for the pellies, with brow being the focal point out of the elbow/block with shooters around him.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:42 (eleven years ago)

Is Davis a good enough passer for that to work though?

tsrobodo, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:48 (eleven years ago)

hes a good passer and will no doubt only get better

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:49 (eleven years ago)

they already play inside out w him at the elbow a lot but mostly theyre just dumping it to him there and letting him create rather than doing anything to encourage a good look

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:51 (eleven years ago)

dont think kawhi will ever be a goto guy hes a much more in the flow of the game type which makes him perfect for the spurs

― lag∞n, Tuesday, April 21, 2015 1:17 PM (31 minutes ago

kawhi stops the ball plenty actually

it's more about having a system. davis can still get plenty of touches, take advantage of his playmaking abilities, and affect the game on defense. but teams like the spurs/dubs/hawks etc have the whole team buying into the system and can integrate their second units too

obviously they require personnel but they have some decent pieces now, plus anthony davis is going to be the best player in the world starting next year and people are gonna want to play with him. it'll work out

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:53 (eleven years ago)

idk if u have a bad org it often does not work out, see bron in cleve

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:54 (eleven years ago)

he spurs are incredibly unique, that's what makes them the spurs. i find the "play like the spurs!!" talk to be pretty limiting

― J0rdan S., Tuesday, April 21, 2015 1:32 PM (20 minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

obv there are certain core principles the spurs currently adhere to that many teams across the league should probably adopt as well, but every team can't just be the spurs

― J0rdan S., Tuesday, April 21, 2015 1:33 PM (20 minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

well the hawks have been playing like the spurs and generally the whole league is moving in that direction imo as far as more ball movement and balance fewer isos and so forth

― lag∞n, Tuesday, April 21, 2015 1:33 PM (19 minutes ago)

this is what i'm saying. this is the direction the league is moving in, this is what all the best teams are doing. take advantage of the situation now while you have a happy historically good player

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:55 (eleven years ago)

kawhi does some isos in the post tho often w mismatches but hes never gonna be anywhere close to a harden/durant/etc type of player who can constantly bring the ball up and make u eat it, hes a very cool player but hes just not a scoring machine

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:57 (eleven years ago)

ftr, when i said "spurs-style offense" i should have just said a more general term like pace and space

if ryan anderson can remember how to play basketball there is no reason the pellies should not be a top-5 offensive team

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:58 (eleven years ago)

yeah brow/funtional anderson is a p sweet frontcourt

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:59 (eleven years ago)

whats going on w him? injury?

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:00 (eleven years ago)

he was injured a bunch this year and also had some personal issues iirc

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:02 (eleven years ago)

thought the girlfriend thing was last year? idk

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:03 (eleven years ago)

― lag∞n, Tuesday, April 21, 2015 1:57 PM (5 minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

also jsut generally not a creating machine, not someone that bends the defense opening up opportunities for the whole team

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:03 (eleven years ago)

kawhi kind of has an old-man game, on the spurs he knows to not stop the ball too much and wreck on defense but on another team he could be like a poor man's kobe

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:05 (eleven years ago)

naaaaw

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:05 (eleven years ago)

i mean he would not score THAT much

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:06 (eleven years ago)

but i think that's kind of his DNA. dude likes his backdowns and midrange jumpers

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:06 (eleven years ago)

he just does not seem to have that offensive ingenuity, more of a two dribble straight line driver/opportunistic player than someone who can consistantly break down the D

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:07 (eleven years ago)

his post game is def developing nicely for sure, tho i suspect some of that is just being hot recently

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:08 (eleven years ago)

he's so young man, he handles the ball well for his size

obviously he's closer to pippen than kobe, that's probably a better comparison

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:12 (eleven years ago)

doubt hell ever get to pippens level offensively, like pip was the defacto point guard for the bulls 75% of the time

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:14 (eleven years ago)

just a fantastic great passer/facilitator/creator

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:16 (eleven years ago)

was also the prime scoring threat on dece bulls teams while jordan was playing baseball

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:19 (eleven years ago)

defensively he is def pipesque tho

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:19 (eleven years ago)

having a guy like that who is disruptive defensively and good offensively is super valuable

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:25 (eleven years ago)

he's 23 man he's gonna be good

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:30 (eleven years ago)

hes already very good but as far as being someone who can break down the D thats more of a knack imho, its a natural baller thing, and i dont see any of that in his game

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:31 (eleven years ago)

wow first you question dray now you h8 kawhi i h8 u

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:32 (eleven years ago)

you still like cp3 right

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:33 (eleven years ago)

if you have an org that gives a major asset up for omer asik and gives major money to tyreke evans in free agency you're prob not gonna be about that pace and space life

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:33 (eleven years ago)

i like both kawhi and dray i just feel like you know they have strengths and weaknesses just like any other players

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:34 (eleven years ago)

i feel the same sort of caution about kawhi that goon feels about draymond

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:35 (eleven years ago)

you still like cp3 right

ya of course he is my fav, you want to talk abt a player who has feel and the ability to shred the D, all that and incredible discipline!

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:35 (eleven years ago)

liking chris paul is a moral failure

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:38 (eleven years ago)

lol hes so good tho, hes like the platonic ideal

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 18:39 (eleven years ago)

he's incredible. nonetheless...

much much more than dece, perhaps one bad call away from a title in fact.

After a review by a Grand Jury, felony aggravated assault charges have been filed against Phoenix Suns players and twins Markeiff Morris and Marcus Morris.

Clay, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 21:15 (eleven years ago)

guess I missed the first half of that story?

Clay, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 21:15 (eleven years ago)

Police say that that Hood was assaulted for sending "an inappropriate text message" to the Morris brothers' mother some time before the incident.

huh

polyphonic, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 21:19 (eleven years ago)

never send a dick pic to an nba mom gotcha

just in time, lots of words on kawhi and dray

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 21:22 (eleven years ago)

It's well reasoned as always and this might maybe really be it but I'm gonna wait until the Spurs are really truly gone, we've seen it too many times before

I mean what if Timmy gets a cyborg leg this summer huh whatcha gonna do then league

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 21:53 (eleven years ago)

Kawhi Leonard is a free agent wow. I wonder if the Spurs will have the courage to pay him 50% less than every player of his caliber will be making in 2 years.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 21:54 (eleven years ago)

this presumes he hasn't already been using one. only limping bc he's on the prototype now, when pop perfects it oh shit look out

cp3 a tru maestro, the standard tv angle doesn't do full justice to how he toys w/a defense
