lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 04:58 (eleven years ago)

it's realy unfortunate that monty's gonna keep his job

lol why is that chicken raw

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 05:03 (eleven years ago)

sorry only bbq chicken itt

Clay, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 05:04 (eleven years ago)

Better than being cooked like Iguodala's offense. xp

A-Hanisi Coates (Leee), Tuesday, 21 April 2015 05:04 (eleven years ago)

@ESPNStatsInfo: Pelicans shot 25.7% (9-of-35) in the 2nd half, their worst shooting half this season

Anthony Davis: 2-9 in 2nd half, 0-5 in 4th quarter

huge missed opportunity

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 05:05 (eleven years ago)

road teams 0-10 now right?

Clay, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 05:05 (eleven years ago)

draymond green has been a monster in this series

--Clay

prob only as a one year last chance though

slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 05:06 (eleven years ago)

wait no the wiz won but that series is a farce

Clay, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 05:07 (eleven years ago)

monty doesn't seem that bad to me. he doesn't add anything but i'm not sure he's actively bad. the hornets have been pretty competitive in this series despite pretty inferior talent. their big problem is that basically every player except AD is overpaid.

tho obv if thibs or someone wanted that job i'd dump monty in a heartbeat

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 05:30 (eleven years ago)

Rip inside the nba

there has to be a dude on the spurs bench who would love to have the chance to work with davis. i mean look at golden state and atlanta now

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 13:27 (eleven years ago)

sure. that's true for a lot of teams.

i don't really want to take up defending monty but i do think he seems better than like, you know, hiring lawrence frank or alvin gentry for the 300th time or something.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 14:27 (eleven years ago)

maybe that's faint praise. i guess my real point is that just that i'm not watching that series like "well the problem is the pelicans coach"

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 14:31 (eleven years ago)

he's probably in the bottom row of the league's 30 coaches this year - like #20 or #21 - but the way some folks memeify his ineptitude they make it sound like he's some all-time idiot, which is def untrue. NOLA's front office staff are considerably worse at their jobs than monty is at his

slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 14:37 (eleven years ago)

the real problem is that they have a once in a lifetime talent on their team and they need to be maximizing his chances for success right now

juice college (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 21 April 2015 14:52 (eleven years ago)

and a lot of that is due to owner demands

balls, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 14:53 (eleven years ago)

Xp

balls, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 14:53 (eleven years ago)

basically new orleans needs their equivalents of the andrew bogut acquisition (looked dicey) some more draft luck/skill and the mjax->kerr upgrade

juice college (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 21 April 2015 14:53 (eleven years ago)

these are all hard things to pull off obv and monty williams doesnt seem too too bad other than an insistence on not really maximizing his use of the brow

juice college (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 21 April 2015 14:54 (eleven years ago)

btw if ilh was going to bump off shaq we would have done it when he helped sink the 2011 celtics

(this post is the equivalent of that book oj simpson was going to write about if he did it wink wink)

juice college (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 21 April 2015 14:56 (eleven years ago)

u know who got exposed as a surprise bottom ten type coach this year lionel hollins

kinda think maybe the league passed him by, or that brooklyn sitch is so messed up he's just casually cashing his checks knowing he's probably going to get canned anyway

juice college (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 21 April 2015 14:57 (eleven years ago)

they're sort of jammed up cap wise and they cashed in so many draft picks that trying to upgrade on monty might be their only significant move left, but i'm not sure who they could hire that would suddenly vault them to the top half of the west

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 14:58 (eleven years ago)

xp i think it's a combination of both bc he is m/l well-liked for his work with the grizz as far as i know, but i really dont know if anyone can do much of anything with that team of malcontents and outdated dudes so he's probably like fuck it

literally anyone who can implement a spurs-style offense. they have the brow and shooters. this doesn't need to be rocket science

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 16:17 (eleven years ago)

need willing players, maybe all players are willing under the right circumstances idk

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 16:27 (eleven years ago)

def requires a high level of unselfishness/heads up play

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 16:29 (eleven years ago)

i mean if you could just snap your fingers and implement a "spurs-style offense" the spurs would not be the spurs

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 16:41 (eleven years ago)

also who on the pelicans can shoot

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 16:42 (eleven years ago)

a spurs-style offense also runs counter to the notion that brow needs to see the ball much more

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 16:42 (eleven years ago)

apparently eric gordon can but that is a. not enough b. prob not sustainable

cole & tyreke also inconsistent and then who else is there...luke babbitt?

slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 16:46 (eleven years ago)

ryan anderson but i guess he doesn't play anymore

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 16:51 (eleven years ago)

gordon and ryan anderson are both very good shooters, plus QP. midlevel shooter types are going to want to play with davis

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 16:53 (eleven years ago)

i don't see how it's on the coach to implement a spurs-style offense when his front office trades two first round picks for jrue holiday, a first round pick for omer asik and gives tyreke evans $45 million

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 16:58 (eleven years ago)

xp forgot pondexter, he's been good

the front office has been atrocious, which i suppose is to be expected bc own the new orleans saints and that is going the opposite of swimmingly

slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:05 (eleven years ago)

*they own

was thinking this too

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:07 (eleven years ago)

A Spurs style offense has the ball changing hands a lot, he'd probably see more of it and in more advantageous situations.

tsrobodo, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:12 (eleven years ago)

no one on the spurs averages more than 13 shots per game. anthony davis shot 17 times per game this season.

a spurs style offense in which anthony davis shoots more than he already does is not a spurs style offense

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:14 (eleven years ago)

feel like w the spurs theyre focused on getting good shots but not getting any particular player a high volume of good shots that wld be something at least a lil different

lol xp

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:15 (eleven years ago)

Have to imagine a Spurs offense with a bonafide go-to guy (which Kawhi isn't quite yet) would function differently.

tsrobodo, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:15 (eleven years ago)

His FGA are only likely to go up at this point

tsrobodo, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:15 (eleven years ago)

Kawhi that is

tsrobodo, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:16 (eleven years ago)

dont think kawhi will ever be a goto guy hes a much more in the flow of the game type which makes him perfect for the spurs

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:17 (eleven years ago)

A go-to scorer can operate within the flow of an offense if he's dominant or creates enough panic in defenses that good ball movement results in easy opportunities for him.

Kawhi might never be a gunner but he'll lead them in scoring and there will be more pressure on him to take on that role as the big 3 diminish.

tsrobodo, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 17:21 (eleven years ago)

this is a funny conversation as it applies to the pelicans specifically because it's not like the spurs were some dead end franchise that all of a sudden rocketed to the top of the league because they devised this new style of offense.

they won multiple championships when they ran their offense through a historically talented big man
