It's pretty crazy how good mirotic was without shooting well, he might be the best player on the Bulls in 2 years.
i remember hearing that rodman caught vinnie johnson fucking his wife and it turned him into the rodman we know today** circa 1996
* circa 1996
He was contemplating suicide in Detroit and understandably has never really fully elaborated why.

"OKC eliminated" and "Westbrook scoring champ" as back to back notifications within five minutes from the NBA app was p incredible
I'm weirdly already a little sad that we prob won't have Scott brooks to kick around next year, we might have to pile on Monty w if he survives
― juice college (agent hibachi), Friday, 17 April 2015 00:22 (nine years ago) link
Brooks and his amazing intelligent eyewear will land a job elsewhere, but OKC will still have a wretched front office.

is this years cavs team weaker than last years heat?
― micah, Friday, 17 April 2015 13:20 (nine years ago) link
weaker as in "less of a playoffs threat"
ya
― lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 13:39 (nine years ago) link
uh, no. the cavs do not start mario chalmers, for one.
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 17 April 2015 13:48 (nine years ago) link
a very comprehensive argument for sure but just one question are u referring to the mario chalmers they won back2back rings with
― lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:08 (nine years ago) link
chalmers was to the heat success as the NASA logo painted on the side of the shuttle was to space travel

anyway big picture folks basketball is a team sport
― lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:15 (nine years ago) link
whoever said the argument was comprehensive?
in all seriousness i think the cavs starting five in the past few months is a bit stronger than the heat's last year although if wade's knees had not been about to inevitably collapse at that time, that might not be true, both the heat's bench last year and the cavs bench this year have some issues to say the least
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:25 (nine years ago) link
there seems to be some time dysmorphia in that analysis
― lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:29 (nine years ago) link
sigh
i spose the cavs starting 5 has the issue of kevin love's misuse/potential yips/back pain to deal with
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:30 (nine years ago) link
also cavs team this year has much less playoffs exp than last yrs heat and spoelstra was/is a better coach than blatt
― head clowning instructor (art), Friday, 17 April 2015 14:33 (nine years ago) link
chalmers singlehandedly won the heat a game in the finals vs okc
― J0rdan S., Friday, 17 April 2015 14:35 (nine years ago) link
the heat last year were a well oiled machine showing signs of running on fumes, the cavs won a bunch of regular season games on talent alone, anyone here think their weaknesses cant be exploited by a well prepared team, think that a team thats not even sure whos in charge its coach or its best player is going to make the right adjustments, that kyrie facing playoff defenses for the first time isnt gonna revert back to a lot of his bad habits
i mean obvs they have a shot at the finals cause the east is so weak theres only one other good teams but they cld easily be a first round out in the west
― lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:35 (nine years ago) link
this cavs team seems pretty equal to last year's heat to me in that i could definitely see them breezing thru the east before getting carved up by the spurs in 5 games
― J0rdan S., Friday, 17 April 2015 14:36 (nine years ago) link
usual caveats apply but imo if they face the hawks it will prob a good series
― lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:38 (nine years ago) link
"no team without uncle drew is better than any team with uncle drew" - uncle drew
― yr uncle drew, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:40 (nine years ago) link
shd also be noted the general consensus at this time last year was that the heat were much stronger than they ended up being
― lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:40 (nine years ago) link
i do think all of those things are true to a certain extent about the cavs and i dont think they have the east finals locked up bc they will face the hawks or maybe bulls and those are crazy tough outs.
i also think they were true about the 2013-14 heat minus the coaching issue bc spo was/is great, but then again in those playoffs they faced the bobcats, nets and an imploding pacers team that still took two games from them!
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:42 (nine years ago) link
except teams coached by Pop. which is why SPURS
― yr uncle drew, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:42 (nine years ago) link
i don't think there's really any precedent for a team with the cavs' defensive rating winning it all. even since everything clicked for them they've been only slightly above average on defense whereas history indicates you need to be at least pretty close to elite.
― J0rdan S., Friday, 17 April 2015 14:42 (nine years ago) link
cavs need another year in the oven at a slightly different temperature

its true they didnt face anyone of consequence but they also breezed through the east, that pacers series was abt as lopsided as a 6 game series can be, pacers also had recovered quite a bit by that point fwiw

this. as much as i want to believe, the game cannot be only about buckets
― yr uncle drew, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:45 (nine years ago) link
yeah feel like ive heard stats ppl saying being in the top third of the league is the absolute minimum historically, and its not like the cavs are alltime great offensively
― lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:47 (nine years ago) link
curious to see how brons old man game hold up in the offs, cld get ugly if he tries/needs to force it
― lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:49 (nine years ago) link
like anecdotally, once you start thinking about them individually ... kyrie, jr, love are all minus defenders. bron has slipped on that end if even by choice. mozgov is p good but he's not tyson chandler. i just don't see how they're gonna outscore equally prolific offensive teams like golden state or the spurs, assuming cleveland gets there.
― J0rdan S., Friday, 17 April 2015 14:50 (nine years ago) link
they cld be v subject to hawks slicing and dicing too :)
