rly don't think the fate of the hawks was ever riding on a backup guard, also thabo would have been low on the list of players i'd pick to get a season-ending injury while getting arrested.
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:49 (eleven years ago)
thabo is bad
― lag∞n, Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:52 (eleven years ago)
I watch more sixers games than I should and I haven't seen this Nerlens offensive development that people talk about. I think most of it is just Ish Smith being a much better point guard for him.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:54 (eleven years ago)
every time it's a nerlens postup or iso it's the same awful awkwardness it's always been, sometimes the ball goes in I guess
As the New York Knicks' historically bad season mercifully nears an end, Derek Fisher sees no reason that the Knicks can't go from worst to first in a year.

just gotta get Shved healthy
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 23:51 (eleven years ago)
I have a dream that the Knicks get the number one pick and Phil trades it for like vucevic and Tobias Harris bc they're in win now mode
― Clay, Thursday, 9 April 2015 23:52 (eleven years ago)
this is kinda a shitty year to have the number 1
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 23:53 (eleven years ago)
I have this feeling we may look back on the top 10 of this years draft and it will make more sense in reverse order.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 23:54 (eleven years ago)
I just wanna see Phil do dumb stuff but actually that trade might be a really good haul
― Clay, Thursday, 9 April 2015 23:55 (eleven years ago)
Phil has been pretty damn boring as a GM, which is what they need I guess

if by boring you mean very bad
― k3vin k., Friday, 10 April 2015 00:24 (eleven years ago)
"boring" is not the apt description for "trading tyson chandler due to beef with malcontent star over representation" or "trading shumpert's potential as a JR salary dump"
"colossal tire fire" makes more sense imo
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 10 April 2015 00:28 (eleven years ago)
it's hard to imagine what the knicks could've done to be less fun to watch.if they lose six to eight more games, they're at least interesting as curiosities. as it is, they're "historically" bad for the knicks but not even really bad enough to be noteworthily bad in the history of the nba. they're just a garden variety shit team. there's nothing loveable loser about them.
― Maybe in 100 years someone will say damn Dawn was dope. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 10 April 2015 00:28 (eleven years ago)
poor spo, he's smart, he knows it's the height of stupidity to push for the playoffs and not just start preparing for what will be a much better year next year
but riles wants what riles wants and he does not comprehend things like "not in playoffs for reasons beyond control have three rings still must prove something don't know what"
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 10 April 2015 01:01 (eleven years ago)
lol taj ruined a rose floater that prob would've gone in with his attempt at a tip, bulls not looking good rn
I guess a quarter like this is prob why riles thinks his team belongs in the playoffs
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 10 April 2015 01:04 (eleven years ago)
p sure spoelstra would rather be in the playoffs
― J0rdan S., Friday, 10 April 2015 01:13 (eleven years ago)
all things being equal, yeah - who doesn't - but something also tells me he won't consider it an utter failure when they miss the playoffs, given what was beyond their control, whereas riles will

would be a decent zing if I understood how what I typed was specifically indicative of a spo-riles romance!
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 10 April 2015 01:36 (eleven years ago)
feel like spo could do way better tbh he's a handsome dude
i think j0rdan just means the psychologizing of these figures but maybe he meant sexy stuff too who knows
― Clay, Friday, 10 April 2015 01:40 (eleven years ago)
half time adjustments indeed that 19 point lead is donezo

he is indeed. that was in ref to my hypothetical construction resulting from j0rdan's joke

No. He made one bad trade and everything else has been fine. That's why it's so boring, just a bunch of decent sensible moves.
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 10 April 2015 02:41 (eleven years ago)
is "one bad trade" like ancient sanskrit for "three"

This is all fine and normal stuff. Stuff a rebuilding team does.
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 10 April 2015 02:49 (eleven years ago)
previous Knicks GMs would have doubled down on that JR-Melo-Chandler team like it was a title contender, which is why Phil is a refreshing change of pace imo
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 10 April 2015 02:51 (eleven years ago)
they could've traded JR straight up if they really wanted to dump him without including shump. trading chandler just for the excuse of dumping felton was equally idiotic.
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 10 April 2015 02:52 (eleven years ago)
both of those major trades were pretty bad for the knicks though. the rest of the stuff is whatever i guess
― k3vin k., Friday, 10 April 2015 02:52 (eleven years ago)
prigioni trade is perfectly defensible. that's about it.
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 10 April 2015 02:53 (eleven years ago)
and it's defensible bc dumping pablo's money for the joke cost of a joke human known as shved is perfectly fine
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 10 April 2015 02:54 (eleven years ago)
resigining melo is the worst move he's made
― Clay, Friday, 10 April 2015 02:55 (eleven years ago)
I like Shumpert but he's a pretty fungible NBA asset at this point.
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 10 April 2015 02:55 (eleven years ago)
that move was pretty unavoidable, i mean the knicks were just not going to not re-sign melo, but yeah if you include that, he's 0-3 in major moves
― k3vin k., Friday, 10 April 2015 02:56 (eleven years ago)

i mean you can't be in a 3 team trade, export the only 2 players in the trade that are above replacement level, and have one of the OTHER teams get a 1st round pick. that trade was mind-glowingly bad
― k3vin k., Friday, 10 April 2015 02:57 (eleven years ago)
oh of course he had to, rock and a hard place and all, but tying up like $140 million in a 30 year old volume shooter who can't play d and has bad knees is not good for the franchise long-term
― Clay, Friday, 10 April 2015 02:57 (eleven years ago)
phil doesn't seem to get that if you're gonna firesale all your assets you at least need to get something back
― k3vin k., Friday, 10 April 2015 02:58 (eleven years ago)
