lol yea and byron doesn't even have the advantage that Monty and brooks have of being liked by players. well maybe excepting kobe bc they are both complete cockbags and game recognize game but that doesn't really count.

hawks mgmt loves muscala apparently. i was...deeply concerned about hawks play the last couple of months, they had a week w/ high profile games against the dubs and the spurs and both those teams showed up ready to play PLAYOFF BASKETBALL and just dominated the hawks, dubs being a blowout didn't concern me too much cuz korver was out it's just we didn't look like we belonged on the court w/ those guys and even w/ the win over the cavs i came away doubting we could win a seven game series against them. BUT THEN i heard kevin arnovitz on zach lowe's podcast and he said that the hawks weren't concerned at all, that they've been trying new things out for the past couple of months looking toward the playoffs and somewhat taking for granted they'd have the one seed in the east. so i'm like fuck it i'll trust coach budd. i just hope we at least make the eastern conference finals cuz if this season ends like yr average hawks season ends - out in the second round - that will suck.

i think w/ byron like an overwhelming part of it really is he's lakers family and the buss kids remember him from when they were kids plus his combination of dumb/arrogant probably plays well w/ jim buss.

just thrashed the suns 96-69! apparently 58 wins is a franchise record. congrats balls, heez & all of ATL.

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 02:19 (eleven years ago)

i have no idea what the hell monty williams called for what was probably the most important possession of the pelicans' season. something like "stand around some, maybe pass to some guys, but definitely dont get the ball to davis. oh and the passes should be lazy."

Clay, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 02:20 (eleven years ago)

whooooohhhh

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 02:25 (eleven years ago)

that was nuts. pelis have a foul to give & warriors have no timeouts.

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 02:26 (eleven years ago)

oh jeez i've never seen a ball that far down in the hoop and pop up

Clay, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 02:27 (eleven years ago)

The two members of Hawks who were arrested, Thabo Sefolosha, 30, and Pero Antic, 32, refused to move when police tried to set up a crime scene, the sources said. They were charged with obstructing governmental administration.

jesus!

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 11:42 (eleven years ago)

micah, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 15:01 (eleven years ago)

whats the nbas policy on players who are caught up in court cases? is it just no worries until theres a conviction?

micah, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 15:02 (eleven years ago)

sounds like its nbd anyway

micah, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 15:05 (eleven years ago)

im sure antic and sefolosha can come up w/ some sort of easy plea bargain, at best they receive some slap on the wrist suspension - like silver clearly cares about "integrity of the league" type stuff but it's not like an obstruction charge levied on dudes who were probably heated up, drunk & concerned about their friend is somehow indicative of moral failing in any minds other than the most tight-assed, and silver doesn't seem quite that type of tight-assed

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 15:44 (eleven years ago)

vivek mullen crush over?

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 15:44 (eleven years ago)

mullen jumped ship and took a college coaching job, so the writing was on the wall

Giant Purple Wakerobin (Aimless), Wednesday, 8 April 2015 16:06 (eleven years ago)

lol, poor vlade's smoking habit gonna come right back full force (if it ever disappeared), too much stress

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 16:13 (eleven years ago)

wow did not realize that, crazy he turned down a pro job to coach at his middling alma mater where he has a chance to ruin his reputation xp

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 16:17 (eleven years ago)

lol obvs did not read the article

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 16:17 (eleven years ago)

the jokey tone of this piece is terrible but theres some nice shotcharts in there http://grantland.com/the-triangle/nba-least-efficient-shooters-josh-smith-michael-carter-williams-trey-burke-nerlens-noel-dion-waiters/

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 18:08 (eleven years ago)

i appreciate any excuse for deploying the j-smoove missed 3/SVG pain face vine

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 18:56 (eleven years ago)

it's pretty hilarious that the spot on dion's shot chart that is the most efficient (at least according to the rubric established) is the place he shoots the least, but then again i s'pose he could've just got lucky the times he did take shots there & is ultimately a bad shooter everywhere

this is the other reason why i am all about the pelis backing in (geaux pelis): keep dion waiters out of the playoffs as long as humanly possible

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 19:33 (eleven years ago)

xxp while i am not on team hate-grantland as much as you sometimes are, goon, i def agree re: this piece bc stuff like this is unfuriating:

So if you have a missed-shot fetish like I do, come meet me on Waiters Island. We’ll have the whole place to ourselves.

YOU'RE NOT ALONE, more than half your site's goddamn NBA writers won't shut the hell up about waiters as if those jokes & his bad basketball/worse personality were still funny, then again i'm talking about it & not just ignoring so in the end they win

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 19:37 (eleven years ago)

*infuriating
