If you go with a surgery carrying a quicker recovery time, you need to take extreme caution in ramping up and get some good luck.

Zach Lowe ‏@ZachLowe_NBA 2m2 minutes ago
Experts tell me bone graft is always safest route for healing, but most teams don't do it off the bat b/c it takes a long time.

lag∞n, Friday, 27 March 2015 19:26 (eleven years ago)

BALTIMORE, Jan. 3 — Orlando Magic forward Grant Hill underwent bone-graft surgery on his left ankle today, with the team and doctors predicting a full recovery.

"Such grafts are apparently standard procedure for the '5 to 8 percent' of Jones fracture surgeries that don't result in initial success."

That really freaks me out if kd is of the 1 in 20 ppl for whom the initial surgery doesn't really work and has to have more surgery to fix the surgery (and it's his third procedure in six months) :(

i'm jumping the gun here but who is the best player ever to have his career derailed by leg injuries? walton? grant hill?

J0rdan S., Friday, 27 March 2015 19:52 (eleven years ago)

Time to start juicing

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Friday, 27 March 2015 19:53 (eleven years ago)

Hill for sure imo

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Friday, 27 March 2015 19:53 (eleven years ago)

Yao?

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Friday, 27 March 2015 19:54 (eleven years ago)

walton was great too walton is notable for being injury prone right from the beginning where hill had a great run then got knocked the fuck out

lag∞n, Friday, 27 March 2015 19:54 (eleven years ago)

bernard king

lag∞n, Friday, 27 March 2015 19:55 (eleven years ago)

J0rdan S., Friday, 27 March 2015 19:59 (eleven years ago)

penny

Maybe in 100 years someone will say damn Dawn was dope. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 27 March 2015 20:02 (eleven years ago)

i'm jumping the gun here but who is the best player ever to have his career derailed by leg injuries? walton? grant hill?

1. Walton
2. Sabonis
3. Grant Hill
4. Yao
5. Clark Kellogg maybe!

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 27 March 2015 21:19 (eleven years ago)

Penny overrated imo

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 27 March 2015 21:19 (eleven years ago)

I've always been fascinated by how ilgauskas and hill had a seemingly endless series of surgeries until somehow one surgery nailed the problem and they were healthy from then on.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 27 March 2015 21:20 (eleven years ago)

man, penny in his prime was near to pippen. definitely hall of famer without the leg injury.

Maybe in 100 years someone will say damn Dawn was dope. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 27 March 2015 21:21 (eleven years ago)

A healthy Penny is maybe the 125th greatest player ever.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 27 March 2015 21:23 (eleven years ago)

I remember the penny hype and it was fun but he wasn't even as good as Brandon Roy.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 27 March 2015 21:27 (eleven years ago)

xp so you are conceding him as a hall of famer then

Maybe in 100 years someone will say damn Dawn was dope. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 27 March 2015 21:27 (eleven years ago)

Idk Artis Gilmore had to wait 25 years, hall of fame pretty bogus

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 27 March 2015 21:28 (eleven years ago)

He was never near to pippen tho

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 27 March 2015 21:29 (eleven years ago)

penny six seasons in orlando, per game - 18.4 pts, 6.1 assists, 4.6 rebounds, 2.9 turnovers
pip twelve seasons in chicago, per game - 17.7 pts, 5.3 assists, 6.7 rebounds, 2.8 turnovers

Maybe in 100 years someone will say damn Dawn was dope. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 27 March 2015 21:37 (eleven years ago)

35 minutes per game for pip, 37 for penny

Maybe in 100 years someone will say damn Dawn was dope. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 27 March 2015 21:38 (eleven years ago)

are... are you saying you fucked a gazelle? (slothroprhymes), Friday, 27 March 2015 21:39 (eleven years ago)

i will cop to some homer tennessee bias

Maybe in 100 years someone will say damn Dawn was dope. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 27 March 2015 21:40 (eleven years ago)

i meant matt was reaching in his penny disses, like any person who first watched hoops as a kid in the 90s i love penny hardaway

are... are you saying you fucked a gazelle? (slothroprhymes), Friday, 27 March 2015 21:42 (eleven years ago)

well then, carry on

Maybe in 100 years someone will say damn Dawn was dope. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 27 March 2015 21:44 (eleven years ago)

Do knee problems count as leg injuries? bc if so you'd have to cout like 3/4 of the guys who ever had injury problems. If not throw Sabas off of matt's list.

Clay, Friday, 27 March 2015 21:45 (eleven years ago)

Pippen is probably the greatest perimeter defender ever.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 27 March 2015 21:47 (eleven years ago)

i wouldn't argue that too vigorously and why i said "near to pippen" and not "as good as". both of them had dominant, once in a generation players beside them of course.

Maybe in 100 years someone will say damn Dawn was dope. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 27 March 2015 21:50 (eleven years ago)
