this is true offensively but not defensively

their defense was really good last year with a much lesser role for him

i mean bogut is the guy defensively

but also they just play really good team D

they were good but not the best

bogut is def the guy on D, but draymond is the klay to his steph

considering who else defenses have to deal with on GS thats borderline dont even bother to guard him territory

i mean he's not a first option but a floor-spacing big is rarely going to be the first option, kevin love style. and his shooting has improved over the course of the season, and there's no reason to think he can't work on it and be a good 3pt shooter

another interesting GSW storyline is how klay'so fallen off a cliff for the second straight spring

its been fairly consistent fwiw

started out way hot then semi-slumped then back up to normal. He shoots just good enough to keep defenses honest. HIs best asset on offense is pushing the ball up.

re Draymond vs Dirk. he owned dirk so hard when they played last.

obvs its a pretty complex calculation but i might in my role as imaginary nba coach leave him open from deep

dirk has been hobbling around all year and not playing very well generally i wldnt get to excited abt the job dray did, unless u have some reason to think he cldve accomplished that few years ago

yeah dirk old for sure but theres no reason that matchup would fair better for dirk if they met in the playoffs

greg monroe is the only player I've seen truly own him in the post, consistently anyway

the love situation is different, it's the opposite actually, it's very clear love is good enough to be a stud. love's struggles this year can better be ascribed to the lebron effect/not being used right

yeah but if u look at his monthly splits its all over the place, looks p much just like the variance youd expect from a 34% 3pt shooter xp

i mean the celtics dont necessarily have the right pieces to put around him right now but with all their assets theyre prob the team in the best position to remake their roster through trades, also coach brad has already proven himself ingenious at carving out just the right roles for players, which seems like a quality that might be especially aprecited by kevin love at the moment

i could see there being a playoff game tho where they lose because dray shoots 1-8 on threes

Anyone can go 1-8 on threes, even Steph. But one of the things I like about Draymond is that he isn't doesn't have that irrational confidence thing where he falls in love with his shot even when it isn't working.

Anyway, if we lose because the Warriors passed the ball a bunch and Draymond wound up bricking some open looks, I will take that in a heartbeat over Jordan Crawford running iso, shooting off-balance twos.

i dont think the warriors will lose, like theyve been the best offensive team and the best defensive team all year but no one wants to say they are heavy favorites

a cool factoid if they win this year is they have a first year coach and zero players with rings

think this largely stems from how stacked the west is, but i fear a not insignificant of the reasoning behind it is like status quo NBA thinking - they are historically maligned & certain ijits are almost angered (anger isn't the perfect word per se) to see them break out of the mediocrity box they were once safely ensconced in

barnes has made a near 10% jump in fg% over last season

helps to shoot open shots and not iso turnaround J's

yeah barnes is doing better and he def has a much better role than last year but iggy when hes on is just such a more dynamic player

tried to check when the last time a team finished the season first in offensive and defensive efficiency and espn only goes back to 03-04 and it didnt happen over that period
