feel like there shd be some policy of allowing steroid use for recovery, obvs the details wld be hard to work out but still, like if someone had a season ending injury and stopped the steroids months before they returned thatd be okay right

amar'e on the mavs
I came here to win, and we're [4 ½] games out of being out of the playoffs, which is unacceptable. This is something we can't accept. We've got to find a way to refocus. We've got to key into the details of the game of basketball. We can't cheat the game. We can't screw around in games and practices and joke around all the time and figure we're going to win games. This is the pros. It's the highest level of basketball. We've got to act that way.

not sure how well this is going to land since he's only been here a couple of weeks, but he's probably not wrong (amar'e would definitely have first hand knowledge of teams with bad work ethics). i never really entertained much hope of ultimate playoff success but the team has fallen off so precipitously. it's a bummer, esp in dirk's twilight yrs (not to say he isn't already cooked as well)

they were def playing over their heads earlier in the year like you look at their roster and it just didnt make sense, prob underachieving a bit now tho
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 March 2015 16:19 (eleven years ago)
yeah it's def a mix of regression and dysfunction
― head clowning instructor (art), Wednesday, 11 March 2015 16:19 (eleven years ago)
they are much more of a typical 8 seed than okc. hoping for them to slide to the 8 seed anyway
― Steph def def (Spottie), Wednesday, 11 March 2015 16:20 (eleven years ago)

Monty seems like a coach that dudes like to play for, while not a cult of personality MJax type. major major weakness is playcalling I guess? But they seem like they play hard for him and are engaged.
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 11 March 2015 17:53 (eleven years ago)
Btw what Westbrook is doing is probably the most incredible thing that has happened in the NBA in the 20 years I've been following it. Were this a sport with more defined methods of measurement the conclusion that he was doping would be inescapable, but it's nice to believe in magic.

But outliers exist though right? Like is it inconceivable that westbrook recovers really fast in general and also might be one of the top five athletic guards ever to play and also is a lunatic and also durant is out
Ok i mean the explanation with the fewest assumptions is probably correct but I want to believe xfiles.jpg

ya obvs nothing definite there but matt is right in pointing out that its suspicious, if i had to single one player out to bet on as a ped user itd be kobels tho
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 March 2015 18:32 (eleven years ago)
one of the things that made baseballs ped problem so obvious is that you had all these players extending their primes way past the usual window, which is happening in basketball now too
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 March 2015 18:33 (eleven years ago)

more likely explanation would be that Timmy is a wizard and his D&D playing is just a cover

Was just thinking yesterday about how Paul/Deron/Felton got drafted consecutively, 3-4-5, and that a dude I knew insisted that Felton would be the best of them.
