Harden might really win the MVP how do we feel about this
I think he's been kinda dope this year he is working his ass off and keeping what otherwise might be a kinda average rockets team in it
They're kind of easy to hate bc Dwight but harden really has been absurd
― we just form a f#!king wall (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 24 February 2015 13:40 (eleven years ago)
I think if he didn't grin with perverse glee every time he pulled his euroflop shit and got to the line for questionable contact, I would hate it/him a lot less. like Manu and CP3 do that stuff as well (and CP is hateable for various other reasons), but it's not quite as annoying w/them.
― slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 13:50 (eleven years ago)
it doesn't help that he's on a team currently in the midst of its most hateable period. but he's astounding, like you have to actively shut off your hoops mind not to appreciate/admire the majority of his play
― slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 13:53 (eleven years ago)
Only one player in the last 25 years has won without their team having at least the 3rd best record in the league (Nash). I think Curry gets it if the Warriors go on another run to close out the season.
― tsrobodo, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 15:12 (eleven years ago)
hardens having an amazing season for sure kinda doubt anyones gonna vote for him over curry tho
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 15:19 (eleven years ago)
i wld like his game more if he moved the ball more freely and stopped taking step back threes, both of those are issues of discipline that will hurt him against better teams imo, tho some of it might be coaching too
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 15:21 (eleven years ago)
its kind of funny how both him and westbrook are having amazing seasons while playing in a completely insane manner

http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/12331388/the-great-analytics-rankings#
interesting stuff. for the NBA section, it should be absolutely zero surprise who's in first and who's dead last
― slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 15:29 (eleven years ago)
feel like the flaw in that ranking is its not actually that informative to know whos using the most stats by weight, you want to know whos the most effectively using them, which is much harder to measure
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:31 (eleven years ago)
like theres a good chance phillys regime is pure foolishness
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:32 (eleven years ago)
it almost definitely is, i would think bc they're relying solely on analytics and literally nothing else - spurs/mavs/rockets obviously supplementing pure analysis with savvy spending, traditionally great coaching, great players, etc.
for the NBA, of the top 10 analytics users only 3 have losing records right now though, and more damningly 6 of the bottom 10 have losing records and even among the winners two of them (pelicans, clips) show signs of things cracking
― slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:40 (eleven years ago)
def being a non analytics user is a very bad sign for a number of reasons only one of which is that you dont use analytics, but of course this ranking is also... not analytic lol
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:41 (eleven years ago)

everybody saw this right -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJnarXYrFSs#t=25
think mvp is curry's to lose - writers like him, warriors are the story of this season. it's been a two man race all season (davis was sorta in the conversation but it was one of those 'what does mvp mean?' conversations when he came up, ppl just discussed how it could or couldn't be him but never really got around to arguing yes it was him), and i've usually heard the 'the rockets w/o harden are more fucked than the warriors w/o curry -> harden is more valuable' argument but i think there's alot of 'i can't vote for someone whose defense is that poor mvp no way no how' types to counterbalance that plus i think westbrook's votes are gonna come from ppl who might've voted harden. would guess right now it'll be 1) curry 2) harden 3) westbrook 4) lebron 5) davis.
― balls, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 00:32 (eleven years ago)
AD might very well be the best player overall, harden prob the most valuable to his team, curry meanwhile is a great combination of the two plus warriors plus generally seeming like a chill human so yea it's most likely his to lose
― slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 00:46 (eleven years ago)
Harden is #1 in VORP and Win Shares, and has more defensive win shares than Curry. AD has the highest PER followed by Westbrook and Curry.
