So as resident blood clot expert / experiencer: how the hell did bosh get blood clots? did he have surgery in the past couple of weeks? he's an athlete and he's like 30, so I can't think of anything except some kind of genetic clotting disorder in which case his career could be in jeopardy.

maybe he is smoking and taking the pill too tho

yeah i considered the constant travel thing but idk you think it'd be more common for nba guys if that were the case. bosh has also apparently been complaining about being "under the weather" since at least all-star weekend and that doesn't strike me as thrombosis-y but then i never had anything in a vital organ and as the clot builds the condition worsens along with it so i suppose it's possible a building clot in the lung could feel like an oncoming cold at first?

a lingering cough is a common sign of a pulmonary embolism, could be he mistook that for a cold or something

like any other disease a PE will arise as a result of a confluence of several factors, as you said all NBA players are at somewhat increased risk because of their constant travel, for several guys add to that a genetic predisposition or some other lifestyle factor (smoking, etc) and it can happen

orthopedic surgery is another major risk factor that could be more commonly seen in NBA players compared to the general population. not that that would necessarily explain specific cases

i think three good to very good years from dragic is more of a likely outcome than a best case one. a best case scenario is that he ages like steve nash. if he ages like tony parker then you'd be pretty okay with paying him a lot of money esp with the cap going up.

Dragic is much more reliant on athleticism than those two. Much more.

if they really give him a max deal it's a gamble for sure and I don't think a good one.

I would be really excited about Bol Bol if it sounded like he enjoyed basketball at all

haberstroh said on simmons podcast that dragic has played 3,000 less minutes than westbrook despite being in the same draft class and that he might be a "young 30"
