i know you're new to this board and you think you're supoosed to hate on everything involving wade, but he's earned a spot with his play (in the east at least)

wade has been quite good this year and there's just not a lot of other guys to take his place. brandon knight or korver i suppose. coaches also tend to lean on voting for guys who've made it before.

have they announced an injury replacement in the west yet?

I don't think I'm supposed to hate wade. it's prob irrational that I do bc he did decently this season and has three titles. I just don't like him, and think you could easily have given his spot to someone more deserving

ok, well like, considering that this is all pageantry and it's called the all STAR game for a reason, yeah I understand why wade is picked. he has a lengthy resume and star wattage. it is prob not worth it to propose underdog reclamation projects

how about derozan tho? I think that would be reasonable enough, in terms of star power and proven quality

derozan has played 25 games with a league average PER

monroe has been better than drummond this year

drummond is having his worst season on a terrible team. knight had like 10 good games and just went down with an injury too. are you just picking names randomly?

the larger point though is that the conference imbalance is just a joke. guys like lillard or cousins, who couldn't even make it as reserves in the west, would probably be the 2nd best players in the east. there are no "snubs" in the east because no one is deserving (with the possible exception of korver)

I'm not picking randomly exactly but I was also not being objective due to irrational biases. I do legit like derozan and think he's good, but as you say he's missed half his games

beal's also missed a ton of time and hasn't really looked right this year. you could make an argument for gortat, partic b/c there's comparatively little size on the east team.

I'm assuming pau is the de facto center, which sort of works, with bosh next up

it'd be cool if at the last minute they made the 3 pt contestants do the dunk competition and visa-versa.

kinda interesting how it feels like the marquee event this year is the 3pt contest and the dunks are the afterthought, just one more symptom of the changing league

we are in the era of the greatest 3 pt shooting ever and the era of been-done dunks, it makes sense

I forget who it was that dismissed the crowd's excitement over a player dunking the ball back in the 60s or 70s by remarking that a dunk was only worth two points the same as any other basket, but that quote has acquired a different meaning in the modern NBA 3-point era.

that having been said i dont think ive seen a dunk contest since dwight wore the superman jersey which was like 2008? so my bar is p low right now
