No way he coaches before next year/they make some acquisitions, why step into shit?

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:16 (eleven years ago)

yeah he is not stupid enough to coach this team but it wld be extremely cool all the same

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:16 (eleven years ago)

It would be a useful demonstration of the limitations of coaching

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:17 (eleven years ago)

dont think hes even stupid enough to coach next year but who knows maybe hes itchin to give it one last shot

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:17 (eleven years ago)

suspect the league has left him behind tactically fwiw, was already starting to happen toward the end of his last stint and hes prob too old and successful to adjust at this point

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:20 (eleven years ago)

Would be perfect for him to spend one or two years in coaching mediocrity in the same way Jordan did on the Wiz

, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:21 (eleven years ago)

yeah curious to see if he will take the bait

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:22 (eleven years ago)

shouldve forced his way into okc a couple years ago tho if he wanted to keep the shine on

which is why pop is a better coach imo

no but seriously im not a dick like that (Spottie), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:26 (eleven years ago)

Pop is a better coach seems like the kind of true fact that would be readily accepted on ILH but with which the #lamestream would have a problem with

, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:28 (eleven years ago)

ya

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:31 (eleven years ago)

ILH, thought leaders in #hoopstalk

, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:32 (eleven years ago)

tru tru

i thought the consensus about fisher was that he was actually doing an okay job?

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:36 (eleven years ago)

idk

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:38 (eleven years ago)

their record sucks but they've played only likely playoff teams, plus the pistons on the road of the flipside of a back to back (which they lost by 3)

feel like i've read people saying that fisher was tinkering with the rotation in a way that was a bit out there but generally positive

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:39 (eleven years ago)

i guess it was this article http://nypost.com/2014/10/31/how-derek-fisher-masterfully-ripped-up-the-knicks-rotation/

anyway their next games are orlando, utah (home), denver (home), bucks, t wolves and philly -- they should get up to .500 at least

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:42 (eleven years ago)

It's really hard to say what an "okay job" is with this pack of goofballs.

I have heard that he's been pushing them to rely less on Melo in order to develop the team, which is definitely likely to have some growing pains/hitches if true.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:43 (eleven years ago)

yeah this too

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:45 (eleven years ago)

Very few guys on the squad I would be sorry to lose right now, even Shump I'm not really a fan

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:46 (eleven years ago)

haha i love the knicks good stuff

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:50 (eleven years ago)

He doesn't seem like an outright disaster or anything, like he hasn't pulled any soda-spilling level shenanigans, he's dug way back into the rotation looking for useful players which is probably necessary when yr big acquisition was Sam dalembert, and no ones in outright revolt save maybe jr talking abt how he doesn't get the triangle bc he's never had to think abt other players...all in all seems ok

He usually looks a lil stoic to disgusted which is probably a good pocket for a rookie coach and also a Knicks coach

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:50 (eleven years ago)

jr talking abt how he doesn't get the triangle bc he's never had to think abt other players

ha ty

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:52 (eleven years ago)

Pop is totally better than Phil imho Phil maybe has more skill managing world class egos but Pop has never really been in a Shaq-Kobe type scenario so I dunno maybe he could have kept them at it even longer

Pop has definitely coached successfully across at least two defined eras of championship ball (big man dominated Shaq/Timmy era to modern 1 inside 4 out three ball) and also continues to innovate and get copied which even the triangle has never really been successfully replicated even by Phil disciples

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:54 (eleven years ago)

khaleeesi (Leee), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:56 (eleven years ago)

philjax is more of a curator than a coach tbf

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:58 (eleven years ago)

i may have said this already but i'm suspicious of the triangle as a system considering it's biggest successes also coincided with 4 of the 20 greatest players in nba history

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:58 (eleven years ago)

Having just watched the Knicks play a back to back with the hawks I can attest that their offense is some sorry shit. The lack of a decent PG is def hurting them. Shump looked pretty good tho

Heez, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:59 (eleven years ago)

Dubs aren't really running the triangle though are they? Happy to be wrong just haven't heArd that

Kerr might end up being the lone success of the p jax coaching tree tho but pop could claim him too

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 17:59 (eleven years ago)

my rudimentary understanding of the triangle doesn't have it jiving w/ the modern game too well. relies way too much on the high post iirc.

moz.gov (Clay), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:01 (eleven years ago)

Like Adam Silver, I don't really know. xp

khaleeesi (Leee), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:01 (eleven years ago)

Knicks should try to get Lin back next year #hoopideas

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:02 (eleven years ago)

the triangle isnt a real thing just my two cents take it or leave it

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:03 (eleven years ago)

legit don't think the knicks have a chance in hell until at least the free agency bonanza starts and they clear a bunch of dead wood. melo is making lip-service adjustments to his game at best, he's still p much the same guy that just loves to shoot, shoot, shoot. and jfc where does one even begin with jr smith, amar'e's knees, etc.

shumpert would be pretty all right if he could shoot i guess

ichabron crames (slothroprhymes), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:10 (eleven years ago)

Well the bonanza starts next year

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:10 (eleven years ago)

Shumpert just gives me a really bad vibe, can't quite explain it. Good defense though.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:11 (eleven years ago)

melo is still a pretty damn good player it's the rest of the team that is bad

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:11 (eleven years ago)

He's gonna turn 31 this year lets not forget, we're at peak melo

this legit insane melo has had the best stretch of his career the last couple years and has reformed a lot of his bad habits eg holding the ball going iso taking contested long twos, hes basically become the player everyone wanted him to be and no one noticed

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:16 (eleven years ago)

plays decent D now etc etc

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:16 (eleven years ago)

Has improved the quality of the hats he wears

, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:18 (eleven years ago)

he started a tumblr about his hats too even

moz.gov (Clay), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:20 (eleven years ago)

seemed to be taking quite a few long twos in that hawks game, granted he made most of em

still think he'd be an absolute top 5 player under better coaching as opposed to a top 15

ichabron crames (slothroprhymes), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:21 (eleven years ago)

if he had gone to chicago hed be having a glorious renaissance with everyone in the world condescendingly praising his maturity but i can understand wanting $30m more dollars tbh

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:21 (eleven years ago)

Clay you just need to get one reblog from like nbadresscode or something and your tumblr would get a million followers

, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:22 (eleven years ago)

You should also set up a Google alert for "carmelo hat"

, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:22 (eleven years ago)

I would be happy to act as your social media expert on this for a reasonable fee

, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:22 (eleven years ago)

xpost oh i dont blame him for taking the money, it's a business. but knicks could've gotten a real coach, presumably? and why would it be condescending, per se, to say "oh he really worked on his albeit few shortcomings and is basically inhuman holy shit wow" in the imaginary scenario where he did leave

ichabron crames (slothroprhymes), Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:24 (eleven years ago)

idk man the world is a crazy place

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 November 2014 18:25 (eleven years ago)

ha Dayo I think I have one follower and I assume it is one of you ;(

I tried following a bunch of blogs, idk, maybe I need to use this as an opportunity to learn some SEO game. idk, I'm happy writing eight word hat jokes abt fictional melo once a day for my bbros w/o any net shine.
