Very happy for Randle. The dude managed to avoid this whole cursed season.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 20:10 (eleven years ago)

unfortunately he accomplished that by literally embodying it

Clay, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 20:13 (eleven years ago)

he hadn't been on the team long enough for its virus to infect him and had in theory a promising career, i can never take any joy in injuries

basically all my lakers hatred is turning "be careful what you wish for" on me in ending nash's career and seriously jeopardizing the future of julius's

fn hell curse of kobe

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 20:21 (eleven years ago)

You might root for the Dodgers but hating the Lakers gives you a get out of jail free card IMO, slothrop.

Tantivleee Mucker-Maffick (Leee), Wednesday, 29 October 2014 20:22 (eleven years ago)

the dodgers are only my NL B-team anyhow! there are 3 teams ahead of them.

Early in the 2013-14 season, New Orleans went overseas to bring Alexis Ajinca back to the NBA after two full seasons out of the league. Ajinca was 20 when he was drafted and not yet 23 when he last appeared in the league, and he spent the two years back in his native France improving his body and gaining valuable experience. The improved Ajinca started 30 games for the Pelicans and provided valuable minutes at center.

Ajinca literally grew between NBA stints. Listed at 7-foot when he previously played the league, he's now officially 7-2 and looks every inch of it.

crazy

he measured 7'1 in shoes before the draft, calling BS on this one

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 20:30 (eleven years ago)

Ajinca is pretty much the worst case Gobert (which seems like it's not happening)

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 20:31 (eleven years ago)

omg im lobbying congress to make measuring basketball players in shoes illegal starting right now

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 20:31 (eleven years ago)

They play in shoes though so it's a more accurate in-game height!

leeeee i know u can do better than this

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 20:51 (eleven years ago)

shoes are a variable and variables should be eliminated

Clay, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 20:53 (eleven years ago)

yeah and like to not mention that no one has ever been measured for height outside an nba combine its just a really weird cultural artifact from a height obsessed league

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 20:55 (eleven years ago)

Chuckles is 5'6", but he's 7'6" in stilts...

polyphonic, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 20:55 (eleven years ago)

srsly like measure players in their stocking feet and then use those numbers for the official profiles and everything dont let teams/players make up how tall they are i just want the truth mane

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 20:56 (eleven years ago)

leeeee i made my major rooting interest very clear in the baseball thread i thought, but i have other teams i enjoy y u gotta be so rood

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 21:08 (eleven years ago)

Yeah well, unless I wrote it, I don't read posts all that closely, and even then...

pleeechazunga (Leee), Wednesday, 29 October 2014 21:18 (eleven years ago)

have a weird feeling that the lopsidedness of talent in the conferences is going to hurt the lakers' courting chances in the short term. like if you're kd do you go to dc and get to take half the season playing garbage teams and kids still figuring shit out or do you stay west and play the clippers warriors blazers mavs rockets etc 4 times a year each

Clay, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 21:20 (eleven years ago)

rick fox was on the radio station I hate so much for the pregame and he was saying it was essential for the lakers to get 25ish minutes from randle every game or the season is a waste. =(

hate the lakers but this news sucks. donald sterling's ghost is haunting the wrong team.

panettone for the painfully alone (mayor jingleberries), Wednesday, 29 October 2014 21:33 (eleven years ago)

agreed 100 percent this is not how i wanted them to be doomed

and also pointsman, octopi don't bark (slothroprhymes), Wednesday, 29 October 2014 21:39 (eleven years ago)

lakers upcoming schedule: suns tonight, friday-saturday back-to-back against clippers and warriors, suns on tuesday. this isn't going to get any better anytime soon.

Clay, Wednesday, 29 October 2014 21:52 (eleven years ago)

There's a certain irony to this:

re ajinca, I think it's quite possible that for someone of his height core strength/posture work could add an inch or two between his vertebrae
