between golden state, the clippers, the suns and the blazers the nba's far west has had a total renaissance and yet we still haven't been able to unshackle national television from the lakers

lakers are so by far the most popular nba team its hopeless

it effectively showcases the new model Loser Kobe who takes 50% of all laker shots and makes 32% of them, while the rest of the team mills around waving their arms for a pass

not to mention northwest division champion oklahoma city sorry this will never not bug me xp

also the rest of the entire globe is a deep purple too

a good 75 percent of lakers fandom is fucking delusional and the remaining portion is loyal regardless, and almost all other viewers are in it for the schadenfreude or the NBA-soap-opera lols - deadspin would lose like 40 percent of its NBA-related posts if the lakers disappeared

if kawhi resigns with them (at any money) he will outlive the parker/duncan/manu core and as good as kawhi has played in the playoffs you don't want to turn over your franchise with him making as much money as possible

He underperformed compared to projections really until the finals last year iirc. Everyone thought he'd take a leap but he m/l leveled off.

Selling point Woj is pushing is "youngest Finals MVP since Magic"

to be fair i think the way he just went lights out in games 3 through 5 of the finals has made me forget the first 2 games where his shortcomings were readily apparent (not to mention here and there throughout the WC finals)

but i don't think we've seen his peak yet, he IS pretty damn young after all.
