lag∞n, Monday, 6 October 2014 16:23 (eleven years ago)

He def recovered once he embraced his inner basketball shut-in but it's funny when he comes back from a vacation suddenly armed with four year old breaking bad references

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Monday, 6 October 2014 16:24 (eleven years ago)

Yeah I kinda think they could have just let him write less abt some minor contracts instead of having to pad the last months worth with three intro grafs abt the upcoming TV deal and rising cap

Kinda like the entire entertainment press wasted thousands upon thousands of words chinscratching abt a crouching tiger sequel no one gives abt

z-time champion (agent hibachi), Monday, 6 October 2014 16:26 (eleven years ago)

ya we really dont need all these hot takes

lag∞n, Monday, 6 October 2014 16:27 (eleven years ago)

it's like w/the internet and media moving faster, instead of at the end of the day the big stories being written for the following day's paper, now all day long you see new stories popping up on websites every fifteen minutes that fifteen minutes later are completely forgotten.

LIKE If you are against racism (omar little), Monday, 6 October 2014 16:34 (eleven years ago)

lowe is at times the best basketball writer we have and at others the most unreadable. he's just unbearably square

k3vin k., Monday, 6 October 2014 18:20 (eleven years ago)

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 7 October 2014 03:09 (eleven years ago)

k3vin k., Tuesday, 7 October 2014 03:13 (eleven years ago)

“Knowing what I know now,” Lerer said, “I think he should say: ‘I had a breakdown, I didn’t mean what I said. I’m back at ESPN and I love it.’ ”

lol otm

I am not partial to Simmons but if Grantland goes the way Sports on Earth just did I'll be very disappointed.

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 15 October 2014 13:43 (eleven years ago)

VIEWING ALERT!!!!! At 7 p.m. ET on Thursday (10/23), The Grantland Basketball Hour makes its triumphant debut on ESPN. Your hosts? Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose, who will be joined by Jeff Van Gundy, Doc Rivers, Michelle Beadle, and Zach Lowe

o gosh

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 October 2014 04:46 (eleven years ago)

I am definitely watching that and hating it

Clay, Wednesday, 22 October 2014 04:51 (eleven years ago)

wait, what is doc doing there. he has a job

k3vin k., Wednesday, 22 October 2014 05:19 (eleven years ago)

@BillSimmons
If Ned Yost had managed the Red Sox during the Pedro era, I'd be living in an insane asylum right now.

whatever, nba dude

mookieproof, Saturday, 25 October 2014 02:51 (eleven years ago)

not to mention grady little managed them for much of the pedro era and he put people in an insane asylum

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 October 2014 02:56 (eleven years ago)

for sure ned is not any worse than grady was

call all destroyer, Saturday, 25 October 2014 04:13 (eleven years ago)

i had to go to the insane asylum more than once cause of that guy

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 October 2014 04:15 (eleven years ago)

call all destroyer, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:17 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:18 (eleven years ago)

Clay, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:19 (eleven years ago)

dude would never last on the goon thread

mookieproof, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:27 (eleven years ago)

can't believe anyone on earth could care about anything mike and mike says even if it's about them

J0rdan S., Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:32 (eleven years ago)

big overlap in audiences tho which is i imagine the important part to bill and his desire to be hero worshiped by his base. there is a venn diagram i don't want to spend any time in the middle of.

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:37 (eleven years ago)

not sure mike&mike have an audience

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:41 (eleven years ago)

bill's just pissed that he always got in trouble for bashing other espn talent

call all destroyer, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:49 (eleven years ago)

ya prob

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:50 (eleven years ago)

he shd go work for an actual journalistic entity that will worship him for the media star he is instead of for espn who make all their money broadcasting sporting events

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:52 (eleven years ago)

like hes the most popular sports writer in the country but he will always mean less to espn than some rando college football game

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:53 (eleven years ago)

on the other hand they pay him a shit load of money and let him have his own website documentary series and tv show

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:54 (eleven years ago)

prob just stay on espn and stop being such a baby idk

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:54 (eleven years ago)

yeah the prob is that basically any other platform would be a step back

call all destroyer, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:55 (eleven years ago)

maybe running grantland isnt as much fun as he thought it was gonna be and hes trying to weasel out of it

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:55 (eleven years ago)

he shd go work for an actual journalistic entity that will worship him for the media star he is instead of for espn who make all their money broadcasting sporting events

He's not much of a journalist though

polyphonic, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:57 (eleven years ago)

hes a writer or whatever you want to call it point is hes m/l window dressing for espns core business

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:58 (eleven years ago)

You could say ESPN is Bill Belichick and Grantland is the Patriots and Bill Simmons is ol' Tommy Brady and Mike & Mike are Eli and Peyton

Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:58 (eleven years ago)

which mike is which tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:59 (eleven years ago)

which Mike is Payton, I'd way rather be Payton xp

Clay, Thursday, 6 November 2014 20:00 (eleven years ago)

ha

Clay, Thursday, 6 November 2014 20:00 (eleven years ago)

simmons is ray liotta in goodfellas and mike&mike is joe pesci in goodfellas and espn is paul sorvino in goodfellas

mookieproof, Thursday, 6 November 2014 20:01 (eleven years ago)

Simmons working in a different corporate context ... it's hard to imagine that it would go well considering that his first real job as an adult (probably?) randomly turned into a cult of personality / fiefdom.

polyphonic, Thursday, 6 November 2014 20:06 (eleven years ago)

im sure any number of prominent outlets would let him say whatever he wants about roger goodell

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 20:18 (eleven years ago)

Which would be the best fit iyo

polyphonic, Thursday, 6 November 2014 20:23 (eleven years ago)
