my new #hoopidea which is brilliant it has something 4 every1 (except team owners ps fuck them):
*expand to 32 teams, seattle supersonics and a mystery team TBD
*play a home and away against every team in the league (62 games)
*rank teams 1-32 by record, seed accordingly so that 1 plays 32, 2 plays 31 etc
*first round of nba tourney is best of 3
*all other rounds are still best of 7
*all teams draft lottery eligible, though bottom half reg season has much better odds

like the bulls have a record that would tie them for 8th in the west now but would they have that same record if they played a western conference schedule? would the pacers?

if owners want more games, last part of season is division tourneys? another home and away against each team for another 8 games. dunno, hard being commish, gonna take a quick break *kicks back*

the regular season would suck with a strict home and home based schedule imo

i mean the playoffs would get there sooner but i would feel robbed this season if the heat and pacers or clippers and warriors only played twice

also the playoffs are not objectively fair in their current state or whatever but i think there is something to be said for the sort of year over year rivalry building you get with the heat and pacers, or heat and celtics. or the spurs and suns year back, or the knicks and pacers or pacers and bulls.

all of those mini-three year(ish) rivalries -- something that is unique to the NBA and insanely memorable -- would not happen in a system where teams go 1-32 or there are no conferences. or they would be way less likely.

anyway the west playoffs are gonna be awesome from the jump and the east will be really nice after round 1

a few of the west teams are gonna get screwed but i'm pretty alright with where things stand
