side-spin set shots all day bruh

Spottie, Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:16 (twelve years ago)

“When I was playing,” he says, “I was getting close to my other high and once I finally beat it by 10 or something, then I was able to relax a little bit and just keep going. Once you’re past it, the pressure goes away. The pressure is in getting close.”

Just how far did Budinger sail past his previous career high? He nearly doubled it, finishing with an unfathomable 327 points.

In Flappy Bird.

"Ricky [Rubio] is second," explains Ronny Turiaf, who brought the game to the team and seems to be the makeshift commissioner of the Wolves’ Flappy Bird league. "He has 187, and I’m third. I got 113."

Asked who on the team is the worst, Turiaf replies, "By far, and I mean by far: Corey Brewer."

"I think his high is six," Budinger says.

Brewer, trotting through the locker room behind Budinger, growls, "Get off me, man. I got seven. Seven's my high."

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:25 (twelve years ago)

i wonder if part of it isnt just the weirdness of the scheme throwing teams off, like if they had a moment to consider it they could figure out how to exploit his weaknesses to defend that situation better

yeah i think the bulls are gonna have the same (offensive) problems as always once the playoffs start

le goon (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:30 (twelve years ago)

maaaan remember how fun nate nate was in the playoffs last year?

Spottie, Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:37 (twelve years ago)

yeah there were def a few offensively capable supporting guys the bulls if theyd held onto theyd be in better shape right now

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:41 (twelve years ago)

yeah belinelli & nate were ballers

le goon (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:42 (twelve years ago)

that's why i'm not buying the "no one wants to play the bulls in the playoffs this year!" line because as good as they've been since the ASB i still think this year's team is worse than last year's

le goon (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:42 (twelve years ago)

it sort of makes no sense how the bulls have a horrible team offense yet in each of the last two years they've had random bench guys become full-on offensive revelations

le goon (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:45 (twelve years ago)

agree, toronto is the team no one wants to play

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:45 (twelve years ago)

xp does it? someone has to score points.

yeah, i dunno. i don't really know how to explain belinelli and augistin, and to some extent even nate flourishing on that team

le goon (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:47 (twelve years ago)

maybe dribbly scoring points just do well in that scheme

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:48 (twelve years ago)

i mean rose, nate, dj

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:48 (twelve years ago)

yeah. belinelli is a quasi-point kinda too

le goon (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:49 (twelve years ago)

then again dunleavy jr has been kinda sucky this year so maybe it's a ballhandler thing

le goon (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:50 (twelve years ago)

Dunleavy is the most MOR player in league history

Spottie, Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:51 (twelve years ago)

could get behind PER's "average player" 15 just being reset around mike dunleavy's numbers

Clay, Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:53 (twelve years ago)

yeah basically. has never had a PER under 12 or over 17

le goon (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:53 (twelve years ago)

that game the other night where dunleavy was dropping bombs was bizarre to me, i honestly think i had never seen him make a shot before that game

call all destroyer, Sunday, 16 March 2014 04:58 (twelve years ago)

yeah dunleavy is more of a myth than a thing that exists in corporeal reality

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:05 (twelve years ago)

he went to duke? he was a 3rd overall pick? i didn't know any of these things until seconds ago.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:08 (twelve years ago)

maybe they werent true until you knew them no way to say really

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:10 (twelve years ago)

It's like he never does anything to make you mad or anything to make you excited. You can't really hate him or love him. He's been a starter in the league for like 13 years and you hear his name or see him play like once a year. I mean, even his looks, he's just a standard dude, he's there, there he is.

Spottie, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:11 (twelve years ago)

hes p weird looking tbf like he looks like a pencil and his head is the eraser

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:12 (twelve years ago)

yeah but like throw some dad jeans and court classics on him and he's just another dude getting free samples in the neighborhood Costco

Spottie, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:13 (twelve years ago)

"what are these, fishsticks? Delightful!" - mike dunleavy

Clay, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:15 (twelve years ago)

lol

Spottie, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:18 (twelve years ago)

dunleavy's brother played for this dutch team which based on name and colors is my new favorite team: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrixx_Magixx

call all destroyer, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:25 (twelve years ago)

Yeah Dunleavy is such a blank, I def remember him being the 3rd overall pick and getting traded around a lot but that's it, can't remember a single highlight reel he's been a part of

, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:28 (twelve years ago)

Matrixx Magixx!!!!

Spottie, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:32 (twelve years ago)

I feel like I mention this every year but some of my antipathy for dunleavy comes from out living in adjoining neighborhoods when he was in HS and his mom called the cops on a party I was at by his house once so he is a snitch by birth

Clay, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:34 (twelve years ago)

hhhaahaa

Spottie, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:34 (twelve years ago)

damn the dunleavys r such h8rs

What's Mike Dunleavy Sr.'s legacy in PDX Clay?

What's Mike Dunleavy Sr.'s legacy in PDX Clay?

I don't think people think of him much. Those sheed / pippen / sabonis teams feel like they happened on another world. If nothing else his reputation is probably deeply tainted by the game 7 wcf 4th quarter collapse against the lakers. Rightfully so.

Clay, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:41 (twelve years ago)

Dang, so the city's made sort of a clean break with that era? That's really strange xp

, Sunday, 16 March 2014 05:51 (twelve years ago)

well I'm somewhat speaking for myself and the pulse I pick up when I talk to people about basketball. We've had so many disappointments here since (jail blazers, sheer crappiness of what followed, oden, roy) that it's like why even dwell on the disappointments of nearly a generation ago.

i am 86% sure that the rockets will beat the heat today. at least i hope oden, who's starting today, will play well against dwight howard and his stupid, smug, "i-just-left-the-strip-club-i'm-so-young-and-fabulous" face.

Goran is great at wheeling around and finding a shot or pass when he's stuck with a pivot foot planted
