durant duranting w/o westbrook just underlines what a fucking horrible move it was to keep him and trade harden

rhyme heals all goons (m bison), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:03 (twelve years ago)

or keeping brooks as coach and not hiring PHEEL

rhyme heals all goons (m bison), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:04 (twelve years ago)

idk i kinda think westbrook is a better player and has a higher ceiling tbh

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:05 (twelve years ago)

xp This presumes the quality of OKC strip clubs would have been sufficiently high quality to prevent Harden from bolting.

Aimless, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:05 (twelve years ago)

westbrook is great, but i think its easier to replace a PG (reggie jackson is here!) than find a creative wing like harden (who is kinda becoming a weird player in houston but whatever).

rhyme heals all goons (m bison), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:10 (twelve years ago)

i think westie and jackson can play together no problem tho

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:13 (twelve years ago)

wow itd even allow you to bench thabo too what a krazy idea

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:14 (twelve years ago)

harden vs westbrook is kind of a contrived debate because they could've easily kept all three but if last year tilted the scales toward harden this year prob tilted them back to russ provided his knee issues don't become recurring

le goon (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:15 (twelve years ago)

im not saying okc is doomed with this arrangement, but say they traded westbrook to lakers for pau and 2 1st rounders and 5 free mamba tweets, jackson-harden-durant-gasol-ibaka starting lineup? for a couple of years that team rolls.

rhyme heals all goons (m bison), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:16 (twelve years ago)

for me it comes down to westbs could get to elite defensive status where harden is a lost cause, but otm that its a false binary

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:16 (twelve years ago)

a necessary contrivance due to owner bein cheap as hell

rhyme heals all goons (m bison), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:17 (twelve years ago)

they couldve got under the luxury tax via axing perk never forget

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:17 (twelve years ago)

i know its just damn

rhyme heals all goons (m bison), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:18 (twelve years ago)

durant is never gonna win a title in okc is he

rhyme heals all goons (m bison), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:18 (twelve years ago)

this team been fuckin up in some very pennywise pound-foolish ways

rhyme heals all goons (m bison), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:19 (twelve years ago)

russell, jackson and harden all play essentially the same role. you can have two of the three on the floor at the same time.

it's entirely possible that okc didn't realize exactly how good harden was but they also may just like russell better. certainly from a defensive standpoint there's no real comparison.

and despite his reputation as a ball hog he's been in the top 10 in asst % in each of the last two years

le goon (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:19 (twelve years ago)

feel like hes prob gonna win this year

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:22 (twelve years ago)

we can say definitively that harden is a better shooter & russell is a better defender

going to the basket they're probably a wash, as distributors russell has the numbers but harden can pass it too

it's kind of a rorschach test

le goon (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:23 (twelve years ago)

i feel like if OKC doesn't win a title it's not going to be because they traded harden, but because they traded him for jeremy lamb, steven adams and one year of kevin martin

le goon (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:23 (twelve years ago)

adams and lamb are looking baller as hell fwiw but that says more abt okcs ability to identify and develop talent than the quality of the trade which was ridiculously lopsided

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:25 (twelve years ago)

one interesting lil tidbit someone mentioned on tv the other day that ive been noticing is okc refuses to entertain messing w any player who doesnt have freakishly long arms

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:26 (twelve years ago)

feel like that really adds up on D, someones arms are always in yr personal space

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:28 (twelve years ago)

tru. i just loved harden's energy in okc, is all. dont love westbrook's game that much.

rhyme heals all goons (m bison), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:34 (twelve years ago)

as a ~consumer~

rhyme heals all goons (m bison), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:34 (twelve years ago)

i love his relentlessness, westie brings it always

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:35 (twelve years ago)

basically the polar opposite of hardens low key routine

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:35 (twelve years ago)

i worry about westbrook as the knee issues will ultimately sap his athleticism--i don't really see evidence that he'll be able to evolve into a different type of player.

call all destroyer, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:53 (twelve years ago)

he can hone his shooting and defense but yeah obvs his game is predicated on athleticism, harden will prob age better

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:57 (twelve years ago)

he plays so intensely too risking injury

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:58 (twelve years ago)

i can see westbrook turning into a very good shooter eventually, his mechanics are already pretty sound he just needs to work on shot selection a little and put in some serious work over the summer

k3vin k., Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:06 (twelve years ago)

repetition wise that is

k3vin k., Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:07 (twelve years ago)

if he just gave up on pull up jumpers hed prob be a good shooter w/o doing anything else

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:08 (twelve years ago)

Michael Wallace ‏@WallaceNBA_ESPN -- LeBron says he may try to go for his own 60-pt moment one these day after seeing Melo and Durant.

bron's gonna score 160 one game. gonna be so sweet.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:19 (twelve years ago)

Totally in favor of star players flexing out for one game a year.

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:31 (twelve years ago)

lebron should shoot a lot, he's really good at scoring. his precious fg% might drop a few points but he'd be more effective

k3vin k., Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:32 (twelve years ago)

ya just pick some horrible defensive team and plan ahead w yr teammates

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:32 (twelve years ago)

thats what wilt did

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:32 (twelve years ago)

really? haha if that's so. didn't know that.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:33 (twelve years ago)

wilt: plans, in advance, to score 100 points and 2000 women.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:33 (twelve years ago)

yup

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:34 (twelve years ago)

iirc it was 10k women tho

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:34 (twelve years ago)

did wilt chamberlin really sleep with 20,000 women?

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 25 January 2014 19:35 (twelve years ago)

over a 40-year span, from ages 15 to 55, that works out to wilt sleeping with 1.4 women a day, every day.
