idk i kinda think westbrook is a better player and has a higher ceiling tbh

xp This presumes the quality of OKC strip clubs would have been sufficiently high quality to prevent Harden from bolting.

westbrook is great, but i think its easier to replace a PG (reggie jackson is here!) than find a creative wing like harden (who is kinda becoming a weird player in houston but whatever).

i think westie and jackson can play together no problem tho

harden vs westbrook is kind of a contrived debate because they could've easily kept all three but if last year tilted the scales toward harden this year prob tilted them back to russ provided his knee issues don't become recurring

im not saying okc is doomed with this arrangement, but say they traded westbrook to lakers for pau and 2 1st rounders and 5 free mamba tweets, jackson-harden-durant-gasol-ibaka starting lineup? for a couple of years that team rolls.

for me it comes down to westbs could get to elite defensive status where harden is a lost cause, but otm that its a false binary

this team been fuckin up in some very pennywise pound-foolish ways

russell, jackson and harden all play essentially the same role. you can have two of the three on the floor at the same time.

it's entirely possible that okc didn't realize exactly how good harden was but they also may just like russell better. certainly from a defensive standpoint there's no real comparison.

and despite his reputation as a ball hog he's been in the top 10 in asst % in each of the last two years

feel like hes prob gonna win this year

we can say definitively that harden is a better shooter & russell is a better defender

going to the basket they're probably a wash, as distributors russell has the numbers but harden can pass it too

it's kind of a rorschach test

i feel like if OKC doesn't win a title it's not going to be because they traded harden, but because they traded him for jeremy lamb, steven adams and one year of kevin martin

adams and lamb are looking baller as hell fwiw but that says more abt okcs ability to identify and develop talent than the quality of the trade which was ridiculously lopsided

one interesting lil tidbit someone mentioned on tv the other day that ive been noticing is okc refuses to entertain messing w any player who doesnt have freakishly long arms

feel like that really adds up on D, someones arms are always in yr personal space

tru. i just loved harden's energy in okc, is all. dont love westbrook's game that much.

as a ~consumer~

i love his relentlessness, westie brings it always

basically the polar opposite of hardens low key routine

i worry about westbrook as the knee issues will ultimately sap his athleticism--i don't really see evidence that he'll be able to evolve into a different type of player.

he can hone his shooting and defense but yeah obvs his game is predicated on athleticism, harden will prob age better

he plays so intensely too risking injury

i can see westbrook turning into a very good shooter eventually, his mechanics are already pretty sound he just needs to work on shot selection a little and put in some serious work over the summer

repetition wise that is

if he just gave up on pull up jumpers hed prob be a good shooter w/o doing anything else
