Kris Humphries' future with Celtics

The Boston Celtics acquired Kris Humphries as part of the big trade with the Brooklyn Nets last July and he didn't play a big part early on with the team, but that has changed. As a result, Humphries would like to stay with the Celtics long-term. Humphries is set to become a 2014 free agent on July 1.

"I want to be a part of this whole, building this team and doing all that stuff with the new coach and all that, I want to be here," Humphries told The Boston Globe. "You never know if they want you or they don’t want you or what their plans are, but I like Boston, my teammates. I’m just getting a chance to play with Rajon Rondo a little bit now."

The Celtics will be players in the 2014 free agent market and they could bring back Humphries even if they renounce him, however his new salary will be a lot less than what he's making this season -- $12 million. In January Humphries is averaging 25.7 minutes, 10.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.7 assists.

There is a chance a team destined for the 2014 playoffs and in need of a big man might call the Celtics regarding Humphries by the Feb. 20 trade deadline.
