I wonder if they'll take the hardware out. I assume so.

The Great Forgiver (dandydonweiner), Monday, 1 April 2013 18:46 (thirteen years ago)

I can't decide if this is better or worse than the Johnny Knox injury, nor how horrible a person I am for even asking that question

frogbs, Monday, 1 April 2013 20:41 (thirteen years ago)

I think the knox one is way worse, personally.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Monday, 1 April 2013 20:46 (thirteen years ago)

I think so too - I can't even imagine something more gruesome than that. But at least the Knox one wasn't really apparent in real time. Or even on replay, really - I had to rewind it a bit to really see that what we were seeing was not, in fact, two different players.

frogbs, Monday, 1 April 2013 20:48 (thirteen years ago)

for broken leg pathos its still go for wand. will never get over that shit, and it wasn't even a person.

barking came easily to me (Hunt3r), Monday, 1 April 2013 21:55 (thirteen years ago)

Doesn't automatically mean PEDs. People suspected the same of Bo Jackson, but that wasn't true then either.

My son had a similarly horrific bone break playing soccer and he was only 8 years old. Sometimes there are bone issues that you never know about until it's too late.

― The Great Forgiver (dandydonweiner), Monday, April 1, 2013 1:15 PM (6 hours ago)

yeah i shattered my femur playing soccer when i was 4, was in a half-body cast for several weeks. couldn't have been fun for my parents

k3vin k., Monday, 1 April 2013 23:30 (thirteen years ago)

also it wasn't PEDs

k3vin k., Monday, 1 April 2013 23:33 (thirteen years ago)

Well I would hope you weren't on ped's at that age.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Monday, 1 April 2013 23:43 (thirteen years ago)

omg i just heard about this kevin ware thing somehow. via chris hayes' msnbc show. (that is how closely i am following the tournament this year.)

i hope i never ever ever see a video of it. the reaction shot and descriptions alone.

hah that guy is not fucking around

lag∞n, Tuesday, 2 April 2013 13:42 (thirteen years ago)

so this rutgers coach

don't you have to be somewhat successful to get away with shit like that? i mean the dude is 16-38 in three big east seasons.

anyway, fire the coach, fire the ad, salt the ground with their ashes

mookieproof, Tuesday, 2 April 2013 19:52 (thirteen years ago)

fire collegiate athletics

lag∞n, Tuesday, 2 April 2013 19:56 (thirteen years ago)

now, if he was 38-16, his methods would seem sound.

barking came easily to me (Hunt3r), Tuesday, 2 April 2013 20:11 (thirteen years ago)

that dude is the son of the unredeemably awful color guy for the trailblazers i'm always goin on about

Clay, Tuesday, 2 April 2013 22:19 (thirteen years ago)

it's extra fucked up that he was REALLY abusing the walk ons

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 2 April 2013 22:45 (thirteen years ago)

What a complete prick

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Tuesday, 2 April 2013 22:47 (thirteen years ago)

when i was a senior in high school this 68-year-old 'legendary coach' came out of retirement to coach our team. he was like this dude, but nowhere near the degree, and saved most (but not all) of the worst stuff for this one kid. i guess he thought that kid could be motivated that way (the kid's dad had a similar temperament) while others like me could not.

i promised myself early on that if he ever whipped a ball at me, i'd throw it back, but he never did it to me. dunno if i'd have had the stones anyway, so just as well.

we went to the state semifinals -- largely because his (awesome) son showed up and *really* taught us how to play a 2-3 matchup -- so i guess it worked in a way. fuck him anyway

mookieproof, Tuesday, 2 April 2013 23:13 (thirteen years ago)

what a piece of shit

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 2 April 2013 23:20 (thirteen years ago)

glad to see the espn opinion guys coming down on the side of "fuck this guy, fire him," i really could've seen rice being protected by these assholes.

Clay, Tuesday, 2 April 2013 23:22 (thirteen years ago)

everywhere he goes someone should throw a basketball at his head and call him a piece of shit

naturally he's a bball legacy kid, that makes so much sense.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 2 April 2013 23:31 (thirteen years ago)

i could tell about fifty horror stories about my freshman-year HS gym teacher who was on his last year before retirement and did not give a shit about the difference between right and wrong anymore, was just pure gym teacher id. the only bball related one was we had a hoops module that ran for a couple weeks and at the end of the section each kid shot ten free throws. girls got 20 points for each made free throws, boys got 10, out of a possible 100. And that was your grade for the section. When I mentioned to him that Michael Jordan (in the midst of the bulls' second run) would probably get a B in his basketball class he said "i'd dock him to a C for all that showboatin'."

He is probably dead now.

Clay, Tuesday, 2 April 2013 23:45 (thirteen years ago)

the BYU mascot is all kinds of fucked up

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 2 April 2013 23:47 (thirteen years ago)

I need to end every childhood reminiscence involving an old person with "he/she's probably dead now."

all false moves (Hunt3r), Tuesday, 2 April 2013 23:50 (thirteen years ago)

looked it up today, my coach died in 2006

his (awesome) son died of colon cancer in 2001 at age 52, jeez

mookieproof, Tuesday, 2 April 2013 23:54 (thirteen years ago)

Enfield was earning $157,000 a year at Florida Gulf Coast, but according to a source with direct knowledge, the USC deal will pay him "well over $1 million a year."

no one would turn this down tbh

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 April 2013 00:26 (thirteen years ago)

Ed Rush Resigns as Head of Pac-12 Officiating. Supposedly he made a "joke" to the refs under him that he'd give $5,000 or an expense-paid trip to Cancun to the first one who slapped Arizona coach Sean Miller with a technical foul.
