well lebron is putting up 8/8 every game so he's not far off

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Friday, 15 February 2013 04:01 (thirteen years ago)

i have pretty much zero doubt that lebron could put up a season of 20-10-10 on 50% shooting

manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Friday, 15 February 2013 04:10 (thirteen years ago)

yeah when lebron was coming into the league the general narrative around him was that he would be the 6'8" oscar robertson

Clay, Friday, 15 February 2013 04:26 (thirteen years ago)

deandre jordan just hit the far right side of the backboard on a freethrow.

how was the barclays

call all destroyer, Friday, 15 February 2013 15:58 (thirteen years ago)

they play rap music DURING THE GAME

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Friday, 15 February 2013 15:58 (thirteen years ago)

barclay's was cool. def a pretty nice arena, not exceptional or anything. as nice as the heat's arena, which is pretty nice.

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Friday, 15 February 2013 15:59 (thirteen years ago)

Love how dark the rest of the arena looks for Nets games on TV ... same effect live? Apparently they have a different lighting system for Nets games, which is supposed to give it a more "theater" atmosphere.

Heh, from the Chamillionaire wiki:

In 2009, Chamillionaire crossed paths with Michael Jordan at a party for the basketball legend after bidding over $7000 for one of his jerseys at a Reggie Bush charity auction. After seeing Jordan posing for pictures with some ladies at the party, Cham tried for his own snapshot with him. "I don't ask nobody for nothin' I never do," Cham retells in a video on his Web site. "I was just like, man, this is just that one moment. I'm gonna ask Mike for a picture." The rapper approached Jordan, who was sitting next to filmmaker Spike Lee and members of the Boston Celtics, including guard Paul Pierce. "They were just chilling and I said, 'I don't mean to be rude, but Mike, I just wanted to know if I could get a picture." Although Cham was expecting to get a "No" from him, he wasn't expecting what Jordan actually replied; "I ain't taking pictures with no niggas!" Chamillionaire thought that Jordan didn't hear him properly and explained that he just paid $7000 for one of his jerseys. Jordan responded; "You know what, I tell you what, you pay $15,000 right now for a jersey from me and I'll take a picture with you."[52]
Cham charges that he's "never been so heated" in his life. Pierce even tried to chime in. "Paul Pierce was like, 'Yo, whoa, chill out. That's Chamillionaire, man," the rapper continued. Jordan didn't budge and retorted with an "I don't give a fuck, nigga!" Chamillionaire then turned to Spike Lee, shook his hand and said "It's all good." Describing Jordan's A-list entourage upon his departure, Cham said they "all just had that look like, 'That's just how Mike is."
Chamillionaire excuses Jordan's "most rudest" behavior by reasoning that "this dude must feel a certain way inside, where he just be treating people like that." Nike and Jordan apparently tried to apologize by sending Cham jerseys and shoes. Cham says he lost respect for the legendary basketball player following the ordeal, allegedly responded to the peace-offering by saying, "No, nigga."

yeah it's completely dark in the arena, i didn't notice it after a few minutes xp

the one thing they do that i haven't experienced is play music during every single possession. i think they have to be the only team that does that.

J0rdan S., Friday, 15 February 2013 19:06 (thirteen years ago)

that Cham story O__o

lakers do this at staples, clippers dont.. very different looks.

panettone for the painfully alone (mayor jingleberries), Friday, 15 February 2013 20:25 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, I think I read that they patterned it after the Lakers, although I couldn't remember if it were the Forum or Staples (never seems as dramatically dark as Barclays).

btw Valentine's Day did not escape Parslin:

the lighting system at barclays makes the court really pop in person- it looks awesome

they also go way over the top with the sound drops for every player every time they score- though it's pretty sweet how the crazy white dread announcer usually calls cj watson "quiet storm"

tskitishvili-leve bad (agent hibachi), Friday, 15 February 2013 23:17 (thirteen years ago)

the lighting for clippers games is hilarious, it's so bright it feels like a bar where a laker game ended and they threw on the floodlights

also the purple lakers seats make it clear who is the second class citizen in that arena

imho it looks good on the lakers but just sort of janky for the nets, not sure why maybe cause the lakers court has colors on it, or it could be the subtleties of the lighting, wouldnt be surprised if Hollywood was better at that sort of thing

have not been to barclays irl but heard they just play jayz constantly which is p horrific and lol

Think it's the court, which has pretty dark wood and is really shiny. Another reason might be that Barclays is barely ever filled. Combine the empty seats with the lighting and you've got a pretty weird vibe. I bet if an important game ever happens there w/ people actually cheering, it'd be different.

Some of the NY/NJ Nets-game streams have these stat interstitials with absolutely no color but black/grey/white, which makes me irrationally angry.

Faried, Spirit Manimal (CompuPost), Saturday, 16 February 2013 02:55 (thirteen years ago)

Should really be an MJ Taking on All Comers 1-on-1 games somewhere in the Saturday All-Star slots.

Charlotte Bobcats rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist confessed Friday that Jordan beat him in a one-on-one game.

"It was hard for me," Kidd-Gilchrist, almost 20, told USA Today before the Rising Stars Challenge rookie-sophomore game at All-Star Weekend. "I lost. I lost to a 50-year-old guy. ... He's the greatest man that ever played the game.

"Oh, yeah. He's good."

How about taking it easy to make the boss look good? The 6-foot-7 rookie out of Kentucky said that wasn't the case.

"No. I didn't allow him to beat me," he told CSNHouston. "Because that's my boss? Nah."

Faried, Spirit Manimal (CompuPost), Saturday, 16 February 2013 03:00 (thirteen years ago)

However, CBSSports.com has learned that the Lakers have engaged in preliminary trade discussions with an unlikely trade partner regarding Howard: their fierce rival, the Boston Celtics. The centerpieces of the possible deal, which hasn't gained any traction, would be Howard and Rajon Rondo.

good luck USA

more baseless blockbuster speculation:

HOUSTON — The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers have been discussing a deal to trade forward Kevin Garnett for guard Eric Bledsoe and center DeAndre Jordan, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Clay, Saturday, 16 February 2013 06:41 (thirteen years ago)

I am so ready for some celtics blockbusters, also the clips would prob be title favorites w that trade

lag∞n, Saturday, 16 February 2013 06:44 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i love when danny goes crazy.

that'd be a good trade possibly a great move for both teams? dk if it puts the clippers ahead of miami but it certainly makes for a fun and weird group.

Clay, Saturday, 16 February 2013 07:03 (thirteen years ago)

Sweet, gonna cut/paste some of these Dwight/Kobe vignettes and just do a search/replace from Kobe to KD.

Praying that both teams don't really think about it too hard and just say What the Hell and do it. Like, I'd rather not even anticipate what that trade would do; just wanna sit back and watch it happen.
