kg has talked retirement on and off for years so im sure part of it is just midseason grind, but i dont think money factors into it too much-- including this year he has made 300 million on his playing contracts alone

they're making it seem inconceivable that they wouldn't take it all this year

the thing with the thunder is that they could still go supernova on any team even the heat but there's some pretty defined way to beat the heat and the thunder right now aren't built to do that

if the heat win this year they'll have more championships as a franchise than the knicks.

and only less titles than the spurs, bulls, lakers, and celtics. that seems really weird!

the way i look at it is, you can beat the heat in two ways

1. completely overpower them inside (pacers, bulls -- note: regular season only, at least so far)
2. counter their defensive aggressiveness with crisp passing in the half court and bomb them from 3 (oh, have tyson chandler as well) (mavs, early-season knicks)

basically the thunder have no inside presence (even serge is a jump shooter) and then they have durant/westbrook almost essentially going head-to-head with lebron/wade and they're just not going to win that battle, at least not this year

maybe when wade has another couple years on him or has some kind of nagging injury slowing him down enough that lebron can't compensate
