Warriors 5 losses in a row, ouch.

skeet-skeet-gate (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 05:54 (thirteen years ago)

KObe 4 pts on 1-8, 9 assists and 8 turnovers in a Lakers win. This team is so weird.

As a basketball fan, past week of LeBron has been so much fun-- not often that I feel engaged by every shot someone takes / expecting the shot to go down. If he'd chill a bit on those long two-pt jumpers he'd probably be on a 30pt/70% streak!

Royce White 7pts/8rbs/4asts/18min in first D-League game, which is impressive for a dude who said that he's only been picking up a bball maybe once a week since the season started.

Many xps I hope Faried continues to be more and more vocal about his LGBT support. Feel like the major roadblock to any NBA player coming out isn't fan support but rather team/player support, and having dudes like Faried be honestly supportive could make a huge difference.

Also Max too OTM about bike helmets/drones to ban.

Ha and Bosh went 13-16, 32 pts, nbd.

still no date on d-rose's return

乒乓, Wednesday, 13 February 2013 14:51 (thirteen years ago)

I forget where -- maybe Bill Simmons' podcast w/ Marc Stein? -- but someone said that he almost certainly wasn't making it back by the end of the season.

Faried, Spirit Manimal (CompuPost), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 14:53 (thirteen years ago)

yeah stein said that

Just gonna put it out there that Jamison is another year or two away from 20,000 pts / 8,000 rbs, which is a HoF'er statline.

Over the course of his whole career, he's only been named NBA Player of the Week / Month once (PotWeek in March of '08).

Faried, Spirit Manimal (CompuPost), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 15:37 (thirteen years ago)

Such a weird career.

skeet-skeet-gate (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 15:38 (thirteen years ago)

hes like the Johnny Damon of basketball

frogbs, Wednesday, 13 February 2013 15:50 (thirteen years ago)

Damon got a ring though, and really helped the Sox take that 04 title.

skeet-skeet-gate (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 15:53 (thirteen years ago)

Heh unless 'Tawn counts as a nickname, the closest thing Jamison has to a nickname is Austin Carr calling him "The Jump Shooter."

Faried, Spirit Manimal (CompuPost), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 16:09 (thirteen years ago)

JAMISON GETS IT RIGHT
* ... For thirty years now Antawn Jamison has lived with the spelling of his first name as "Antawn" and the pronunciation of it as "An-TWAN." The former Tar Heel star and current NBA star of the Washington Wizards will continue to do so. But his son, born on December 28, 2006, and given the name of Antwan Cortez Jamison Jr., will not have that to deal with.

"We decided we didn't want him to go through life having to answer that question," Jamison told The Washington Times about spelling his baby boy's name A-n-t-w-a-n instead of A-n-t-a-w-n as his name is spelled. Jamison's parents intended his name to be spelled and pronounced "Antwan" when he was born, but the hospital typed it incorrectly as 'Antawn' on the birth certificate back on June 12, 1976. The error went unchanged leading to confusion since the name went on being pronounced "An-TWAN" by his parents.

"The hospital made a mistake on the birth certificate and they just left it alone," Jamison told the Times. "They just never dealt with it."

According to the article, Jamison is often teased about the spelling of his name in opposing arenas being called "An-TAWN" as his name appears and is pronounced phonetically.

Jamison and his wife, Ione, wanted a junior, but didn't want their first son (and second child) to go through the misspellings, confusion and mispronunciations that Antawn Cortez Jamison has gone through.

"So we made life easier on him," Jamison said.

Turkoglu explained his positive test in a statement released by the Magic.

“While I was back home in Turkey this past summer, I was given a medication by my trainer to help recover more quickly from a shoulder injury,” Turkoglu said. “I didn’t know that this was a banned substance and didn’t check before blah blah blah...

“While I was back home in Turkey this past summer, I was given a medication by my trainer to help recover more quickly from a shoulder injury, killed a herd of deer with my bare hands and smeared the bloody velvet of their antlers all over my naked body,” Turkoglu said. “I didn’t know that this was a banned substance and didn’t check before blah blah blah...
