Might be confirmation bias. I'd wager that ACL/MCL injuries might be on the upswing because players have more efficient ways of adding muscle now and their ligaments can't maintain the extra bulk? Not sure if there's a profile of the type of player/body that is most susceptible to ACL/MCL tears; more muscle would be a tough sell on guys like Rondo and Barbosa, maybe a little more so w/ guys like Rose.

Maybe the game is more stop-and-go with bursts of quick movements than it used to be? Not sure, seems like this is mostly guards having this injury too.

Again, think that's probably more confirmation bias w/r/t guards. You've got guys like Jamal Crawford, Rubio, Shumpert, Rose, Rondo, Barbosa getting ACL tears; but, there's also Al Jefferson, David West, Kendrick Perkins, Al Harrington, Josh Howard, etc. I'd guess that it has the most to do w/ certain players' ligaments just not being able to keep up w/ the players' weight/muscle distribution. IE, even though players like Barbosa and Rondo might look skinny, their bodies might be handling more weight/muscle than they were made to.

this is pretty fascinating. guy compiled data from all college games since 2009 where a team was inbounding the ball down 3 with between 5 and 12 seconds left. found that defending teams that intentionally fouled in that situations won no more often than teams that chose to defend. (doesn't look like he ran any sort of statistical analysis but the percentages were 93 and 94%)

As a basketball fan, past week of LeBron has been so much fun-- not often that I feel engaged by every shot someone takes / expecting the shot to go down. If he'd chill a bit on those long two-pt jumpers he'd probably be on a 30pt/70% streak!
