having watched almost all of their games this season, Houston is a funny team--some nights they look like a chaotic mess, massive amounts of turnovers, no one can get a shot except harden, and just basically a bunch of scrubs...

but once in a while, increasingly of late, all of the moneyball probabilities seem to fall their way and they absolutely steam-roll the competition. the irony is that that sort of statistical approach should consistently keep them in games but more often than not it seems to create this two-headed monster of win-big or lose-big. i believe they may have the fewest "close games" of any team in the league.

Heh, kind of decided early on not to pay much attention to the nu Rockets since it seemed like they were just Unproven 6th Man + Unproven Celeb + weird assemblage of young, talented tradebait. Thought they'd be a sub-500 team this year, but with Asik transforming into legitness, they can go on really scary spurts. Kinda wonder if they jiggered their offensive sets somehow that might help their defense, which can be atrocious.
