idgi ... I actually was looking at rosters a lot today when all this silliness began. Are you hinting that they all sucked? Huge shocker: they're all incredibly solid teams built around probably the greatest player of all time. Now, if you want to look at some of those '80s teams, when -- another shocker!-- Jordan wasn't winning rings, then you'll find some pretty shitty teams.

i feel like every single one of the players the bulls had were assessed incredibly well by the coaching staff and utilized amazingly well, those bulls teams at full strength (w/jordan, non-creaky version) were unstoppable. i think MJ was better than LBJ, but i don't buy into the rep LBJ has as the nba's alex rodriguez.

glad nobody has gotten around to comparing mike brown to phil jackson yet

he didn't change how the game is played as much as MJ did. nearly every player, pros, college, ymca, kid on nerf hoop, had their game altered by MJ style of play. (lebron hard to emulate cause his signature move is being a 6'8" 250lb guy)

it's only in hindsight they're "incredibly solid teams", just like lebron's will magically become incredibly solid now that he's not pissing himself.

yeah lebron would be more awe-inspiring if the league weren't filled with 260 lb point-centers who guard 4 or 5 positions at an all-NBA level, it's true

what granny means w/ innovation is more like...influence. i care more about panache and originality (and both mj and bron had plenty)

Will totally cop to some confirmation bias / post hoc there, but I said before that, in hindsight & right now, LeBron played(s) on a really top-heavy team and I think they're totally atypical from most ring teams.
