MJ didn't have any spills, threw in a sweet double sowcow to triple axel combo. LeBron biffed on his 1st jump, so he'll have to do that quad Lyndy to get gold.

its ugly to hate dirk ppl
― moullet, Thursday, 7 February 2013 20:11 (thirteen years ago)
Lebron still only has one title. He has a long way to go, you know? He's got a lot of work to do before he gets into the Tim Duncan conversation, let alone Jordan.
Obviously his talent suggests that he might get there, but we'll see.
― pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Thursday, 7 February 2013 20:11 (thirteen years ago)
bron has to enroll in college once he retires from the nba & win @ that level imo

if titles mattered this much then it would be Bill Russell hands down but it's not
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 7 February 2013 20:44 (thirteen years ago)
i mean i get it, when two players are as close as bron and michael are you have to start breaking it down other ways, and that means arbitrary "clutch" stuff and situational statistics. i obviously put less weight into those things than other ppl do
― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Thursday, 7 February 2013 20:45 (thirteen years ago)
pretty sure LeBron would have won some titles in Cleveland if instead of Mo Williams he had Scottie Pippen

http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/8926084/dwight-howard-los-angeles-lakers-tired-people-questioning-shoulder-injury
Kobe Bryant publicly challenged Howard to return, telling ESPNBoston.com's Jackie MacMullan on Wednesday, "We don't have time for [Howard's shoulder] to heal. ... We need some urgency."
Howard dismissed Bryant's stance.
"That's his opinion, that's it," Howard said. "He's not a doctor, I'm not a doctor. That's his opinion."

i lol'd
and MJ wouldn't have failed against Pistons if he had better cast. but that's just hearsay cause it's not like he swept them in the ECF when they were back to back defending champs or anything. also, if we're giving credit to Bron for dragging a team to the Finals, how are we carving a millstone out of MJ dragging teams to conf finals
― A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 7 February 2013 21:16 (thirteen years ago)
i obviously put less weight into those things than other ppl do
what are you putting weight on here again? "individual play"? ts%/ppg +apg/tov? don't hold out on this kevula you've devised.
― A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 7 February 2013 21:18 (thirteen years ago)
LeBron has never had a supporting cast as good as any of the teams Jordan won titles with except perhaps 98 when Pippen was nursing the bad back
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 7 February 2013 21:19 (thirteen years ago)
he has 2 perennial all stars (one of whom one a ring w/o him, something Pippen never did) and the all time best 3pt shooter now

i get accused of double standards but jordan + pippen + grant/rodman= great supporting cast whereas LeBron + Wade + Bosh=too top heavy!
― A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 7 February 2013 21:41 (thirteen years ago)
You understand that "supporting cast" /= the other all-stars on the team, right? You're talking Top Three Dudes, the rest of us are referring to the other nine people in the rotation. Which is why NBA history is littered w/ a buttload of teams w/ a few all-stars and a bunch of scrubs who never sniffed a ring.
― ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Thursday, 7 February 2013 22:33 (thirteen years ago)
Or maybe you're so stats-centric that everyone else just kinda blurs together for you since their advanced stats don't look impressive? idk, something's not getting through though.
― ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Thursday, 7 February 2013 22:34 (thirteen years ago)
i don't think the "supporting cast" argument for lebron is a good one because the heat knew it was going to be that way going in
― d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 7 February 2013 22:35 (thirteen years ago)
so your argument is that John Paxson, Bill Cartwright, Luc Longley, BJ Armstrong (only good dude here really), Scott Williams, Stacey King, Will Perdue, Craig Hodges, Cliff Levingston, Steve Kerr just so far outclass LBJ's supporting casts?? Really?
― A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 7 February 2013 22:55 (thirteen years ago)

oh yeah. they were so awesome I totally forgot about them. kidding, they were great role players. just think MJ cast vs LeBron cast is barking up the wrong tree. had a case before Big 3, but not since.

all smoke and mirrors I guess
Yeah, that supporting cast is ridiculously better than anything LeBron has ever had. Again, it's similar to aaaaaaaallll those other championship teams-- all of these supporting casts, that Bulls cast included -- in that they're loaded w/ role players who do a shitton of dirty work and do it well. W/o a second thought I'd take those guys over any bottom-10 casts that LeBron has ever played with.
Or -- not to get too challopy -- I'm not totally sure that Jordon + Wade + Bosh + everyone else on that Heat team wins a ring last year. I mean, last year's Heat team, the best team LeBron has probably ever played for, almost didn't make it to the finals! It took otherworldly games from both Lebron and Wade to get there.
Kinda think that most fans can't see past the best three/four players and think that everyone else is totally interchangeable, which, if you care to look at championship-winning teams for the past 30-40 years, just isn't true. Like, it's pretty easy to be "lol king cartwright purdue kerr paxson good luck getting that ring," but that's what separates good teams from great teams.
― ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Thursday, 7 February 2013 23:19 (thirteen years ago)
Granny u should look into the '12-'13 LA Lakers, they've got a ton of future HoFs on their team with a really shitty bottom 10, heard they're doing really well so far this season.

― A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 7 February 2013 23:31 (thirteen years ago)
i feel like every single one of the players the bulls had were assessed incredibly well by the coaching staff and utilized amazingly well, those bulls teams at full strength (w/jordan, non-creaky version) were unstoppable. i think MJ was better than LBJ, but i don't buy into the rep LBJ has as the nba's alex rodriguez. he also has a better sense of humor than MJ, who had this pretty amazing casual subtle trolly arrogance but less joy.
― christmas candy bar (al leong), Thursday, 7 February 2013 23:33 (thirteen years ago)
'91 MJ w/2 players as good as Bosh and Wade plus weeblywobblies beat those Mavs, sorry. 2012 LeBron would!
― A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 7 February 2013 23:33 (thirteen years ago)
