OK, awesome, so you actually don't understand that having a top-heavy team bodes very ill for 'ship chances / you're willing to define a whole player's career on one bad 4th Q. against a championship team even though basically all other evidence suggests that LeBron is an amazing playoffs basketball player.

it wasn't one bad 4th quarter, how quickly people seem to have forgotten. there were several 4th quarters. "all other evidence"...see there's no other need to dismiss certain Finals evidence and just focus on the "other evidence" w/MJ. totally willing to disqualify him at the moment (like i said, he's got time to make up for it, but it'll have to be something incredible...4 or 5 more Finals like last year at least) for these bad performances, because there's one player who had a better track record.

it's a great accomplishment. but if we're ignoring his loss to the mavs at age 27 w/a legit team, i'm ignoring this k?

i'm not ignoring it, but in the end it's going to be a footnote in lebron's career either way.

either lebron is going to win enough titles from now on out to put him in the conversation with michael OR he's not going to, and those future failures will loom much larger than whatever happened with the mavs

well sure, but if we accept the premise that the footnotes only matter now because lebron's career is half over, then we probably shouldn't be comparing him to someone who stopped played a decade ago

so if he wins 6 total, that Mavs loss won't matter? 7? what if they titles are spread out (MJ won 6 straight when he played full season), and the last 1 or 2 he's not the best player on his team (MJ 6 Finals MVPs)?

personally i think if lebron equals MJ in championships (even if he loses another finals) then he has a case for best player ever based on what his overall statistical body of work will be

it will be a fascinating argument either way. lebron also has a bit of an advantage having never played college.

i think in the end, jordan will always be the best. lebron will have the best argument against him tho.

Lebron still only has one title. He has a long way to go, you know? He's got a lot of work to do before he gets into the Tim Duncan conversation, let alone Jordan.

Obviously his talent suggests that he might get there, but we'll see.

i mean i get it, when two players are as close as bron and michael are you have to start breaking it down other ways, and that means arbitrary "clutch" stuff and situational statistics. i obviously put less weight into those things than other ppl do

pretty sure LeBron would have won some titles in Cleveland if instead of Mo Williams he had Scottie Pippen
