blatche and mcgee both had really strong starts to the season on a per-minute basis
PER just passes the eye test better, the top 20 or so players are generally the best players in the league and in a reasonable order. it undervalues defense for sure but i'm not sure defensive win shares is any good either

i think chuckster hasnt quite recalibrated to the new nba where you don't especially need a pure beef center anymore and in fact having one (ahem perkins) is kind of drag unless you're specifically facing the one or two power guys left (healthy dwight, marc, um...)

also i think bogut's defensive strengths are more subtle than chuck is used to from centers (sliding, correctly anticipating pick & rolls, etc) but yes, he is not a "finesse player" aka wite
