yooooo that is shots fired from woj
― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Thursday, 31 January 2013 19:22 (thirteen years ago)
is there ANY evidence for what woj says about lebron having been "thinking about a return to cleveland since joining the heat"? does he just not care?
― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Thursday, 31 January 2013 19:26 (thirteen years ago)
there have been rumblings for a while... it's all rumors tho
― d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 31 January 2013 19:38 (thirteen years ago)
i think he'll return to cleveland at some point... i doubt it's for his next contract tho

nah idk. hollinger once told the spurs to sign some guy that sucked.
― d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 31 January 2013 21:44 (thirteen years ago)
thinking back on it, the reason the Gay trade sucks for the Grizz is that it makes the previous contract dump trade look purposeless. They could really use ellington right now, for example.

^^ sick harden defense
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 31 January 2013 22:37 (thirteen years ago)
why? ellington is terrible
― d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 31 January 2013 22:57 (thirteen years ago)
the only thing of value they lost was their first round pick but it's non-lottery so it's not the end of the world
― d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 31 January 2013 22:59 (thirteen years ago)
Ellington is an ok 3point specialist. He was shooting 43% from 3 for them. Now who is their backup 2?
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 31 January 2013 23:05 (thirteen years ago)
I like Jon Leuer ok, but that was a pretty rough deal for the Grizz and wouldn't have happened without the salary cap leverage, so why do that one first?
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 31 January 2013 23:07 (thirteen years ago)
Because there was no guarantee of the second coming together and it got them under the tax line.
― EZ Snappin, Thursday, 31 January 2013 23:23 (thirteen years ago)
grizz were not actual contenders the way the west is this year. they're a piece away but it's not something they could have fixed right now, and particularly not with gay as the trade chip. better to put it off for a year imo
― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Friday, 1 February 2013 00:32 (thirteen years ago)
my understanding is that they wanted to clear room for wroten to play more... their guard rotation is conley/bayless/wroten/allen. it's def a bit light on shooting but i don't know.... i don't really like ellington at all.
― d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Friday, 1 February 2013 00:36 (thirteen years ago)
maybe they'll swing a deal another deal for a shooter at some point
rip rudy gay
Royce Young @dailythunderLionel Hollins on the trade: "It's almost like a sick relative and when they finally pass on, it's a shock but you knew it was coming."

the deadline isn't until the 21st, seems like they rushed it imo
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 1 February 2013 00:38 (thirteen years ago)
idk... it seems like they've been trying to trade gay for an entire year
― d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Friday, 1 February 2013 00:38 (thirteen years ago)
I didn't like Ellington at all before this season but they needed 3 point shooting and he was delivering. Wroten is a project imo.
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 1 February 2013 00:39 (thirteen years ago)
assuming hollinger is driving a lot of the thinking there, ellington's PER this year is 9-something. that's prob your explanation.
― d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Friday, 1 February 2013 00:41 (thirteen years ago)
PER vs. WS/48 throwdown
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 1 February 2013 00:50 (thirteen years ago)
ws/48 sucks imo
― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Friday, 1 February 2013 02:02 (thirteen years ago)
rudy gay is 12th in defensive win shares
― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Friday, 1 February 2013 02:03 (thirteen years ago)
tiago splitter is 5th in ws/48
― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Friday, 1 February 2013 02:04 (thirteen years ago)
WS/48 sucks, PER blows
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 1 February 2013 02:08 (thirteen years ago)
do you want the one that puts Jimmy Butler and Tiago in the top 20 or the one that puts Blatche and McGee in the top 20
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 1 February 2013 02:13 (thirteen years ago)
tiago obv
― pull up to the shrink with my feelings missing (m bison), Friday, 1 February 2013 02:14 (thirteen years ago)
blatche and mcgee both had really strong starts to the season on a per-minute basis
PER just passes the eye test better, the top 20 or so players are generally the best players in the league and in a reasonable order. it undervalues defense for sure but i'm not sure defensive win shares is any good either
― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Friday, 1 February 2013 02:18 (thirteen years ago)
blatche and mcgee had strong starts and Tiago is shooting 60-74
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 1 February 2013 02:23 (thirteen years ago)
both top 20s are pretty much junk
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 1 February 2013 02:24 (thirteen years ago)

― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Friday, 1 February 2013 03:20 (thirteen years ago)
the hell was perkins doing cherrypicking down there?
― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Friday, 1 February 2013 03:21 (thirteen years ago)
tyson chandler, 5th in offensive win shares. not in the top 20 on defense
― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Friday, 1 February 2013 03:22 (thirteen years ago)
well he's not a top 20 defender so that's fine
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 1 February 2013 03:24 (thirteen years ago)
presumably you get beacoup offensive win shares for OREB?
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 1 February 2013 03:25 (thirteen years ago)
better explanation would be it's just random
― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Friday, 1 February 2013 03:31 (thirteen years ago)
splitter 20th on offense, not even per 48 just overall
grizz lost by 17 pointsgay averages 17.2 ppgjust saying
