kinda hard to argue that it's a better season than 10-11 though

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 January 2013 22:47 (thirteen years ago)

but yes he's got his 3p% back up to his career high of 33, keep chunking Russ

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 January 2013 22:50 (thirteen years ago)

well as you say his WS/48 is at a career high & his PER is right in the same range so i don't think it's an appreciable difference esp if you factor in improvements from durant & ibaka

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Monday, 28 January 2013 23:21 (thirteen years ago)

also his shooting % for january is up at 43% now which is still a tick down from the past two years but not something that's going to kill them and it wouldn't be a shock if he just played better in the second half either

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Monday, 28 January 2013 23:23 (thirteen years ago)

also in a head-to-head match up w/ parker, i'll still take russ

i'd rate that group durant >>> russ > duncan > parker > manu

I don't think he's worse, just not any better.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 January 2013 23:46 (thirteen years ago)

oh yeah i'd agree with that

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 00:07 (thirteen years ago)

russ over duncan, really

manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 00:16 (thirteen years ago)

kind of feel like m bise and i are the only ones who watch spurs games

manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 00:16 (thirteen years ago)

i mean it's likely that each will have regressed toward his respective mean come playoff time, but duncan is a legit MVP candidate and russ is having an average russ season

manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 00:20 (thirteen years ago)

If Duncan was playing another 8-10 minutes a game people would totally be talking possible MVP. His numbers are stupid good considering minutes he's averaging.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 00:21 (thirteen years ago)

Ha, was reading about Pacers vs. Nuggets history, and I ended up reading about some really dramatic Pacers/Nuggets ABA playoff series. The Pacers introduced Dancin' Harry during those playoffs as a kinda mascot. His only job was to put "the whammy" on the opposing team:

"During a time out, he would dance, twirl his cape, and shake his fingers at the other team's huddle ... In the 1975 ABA Playoffs, Dancin' Harry's hex worked against the heavily favored San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets, but failed in the Championship Series against the Kentucky Colonels.

Here is an artist's rendition of "The Goldfinger" hex:

http://www.remembertheaba.com/OnlyintheABAMaterial/FashionGuide/DancinHarry/DancinHarryProgram.jpg

Which looks nothing like the real Dancin' Harry:

http://www.remembertheaba.com/OnlyintheABAMaterial/FashionGuide/DancinHarry/DancingHarrySideline2.jpg

To combat The Goldfinger hex, the Nuggets hired Robota the Witch:

http://www.remembertheaba.com/OnlyintheABAMaterial/OnlyInTheABA/Witch/WitchPacersBenchBuse.jpg

And for the whole game:

"The witch put a spell on the entire Pacers team during pre-game warmups, including a pensive Darnell Hillman. She cast a special curse on George McGinnis, using a life size cutout of Big George and a smoking cauldron at mid-court. During the game, she spent time behind the Pacers' bench casting even more spells.

Don't know why I don't just spend a year reading about the ABA.

Ha just reading up on Dancing Harry now ... he also danced for the Knicks and some other teams, too?!? Is this why Homer is called "Dancing Homer" in that Simpsons ep?!?

ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 00:30 (thirteen years ago)

bring back the ABA

Clay, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 00:45 (thirteen years ago)

i got a book about the ABA (Loose Balls) for christmas last year but still haven't read it

manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 01:04 (thirteen years ago)

it's good you should give it a read

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 01:09 (thirteen years ago)

well yes almost every player's numbers would look better if they played 10 mpg less

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 01:28 (thirteen years ago)

i'd take westbrook in a playoff series bcuz i like his night-to-night upside of being able to explode for 40-something points (or have a game like he did in game 4 or 5 of the finals, I forget which it was)

but either way we're just arguing about perennial all-stars

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 01:36 (thirteen years ago)

manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 01:57 (thirteen years ago)

Really can't believe how quickly our jinx of Stephen Curry struck him down. His 9th ankle sprain in the last season and a half.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 02:05 (thirteen years ago)

best 3 point shooter of all time

乒乓, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 02:05 (thirteen years ago)

I wonder if he could play with one of those blade legs like that sprinter.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 02:08 (thirteen years ago)

Curry, man. Argh.

so Bogut done did 12-8-2-1-4(blocks) in 24 minutes on his first game back.

queef ka queef (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 02:27 (thirteen years ago)

So happy Bogut is back. Really really hope that team is as healthy as possible when playoffs come.

ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 02:53 (thirteen years ago)

Bought looked pretty good. Will be a huge help when he rounds into shape.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 02:57 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i'd really like to see that team play w/ bogut, hope they're on national tv soon (but it's probably lakers vs mavericks every thursday til april)

Clay, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 03:01 (thirteen years ago)

Damn Nuggets have some butthurt announcers.

ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 03:06 (thirteen years ago)

Wow! Paul George just stuffed Gallo at the rim on a fast break. Beautiful.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 03:25 (thirteen years ago)

Ha Quinn Buckner called it a "smothered chicken," I'm not familiar w/ that term for a block.

ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 03:30 (thirteen years ago)

New one on me, too.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 03:32 (thirteen years ago)

Clay, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 03:39 (thirteen years ago)

manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 03:49 (thirteen years ago)

Bogut looked really good but then every time he walked back to the bench it looked like he had a wooden foot

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 03:49 (thirteen years ago)

is javale hurt?

manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 03:49 (thirteen years ago)

queef ka queef (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 03:53 (thirteen years ago)

Curry looked alright after the game fwiw

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 03:56 (thirteen years ago)

Nuggets have been pretty awesome ever since ILH stopped talking about them every night

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 03:58 (thirteen years ago)

yeah well their schedule was apparently historically tough early in the season

the raptors logo underneath the basket trips me out something fierce, i really don't like it

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 29 January 2013 04:07 (thirteen years ago)

I'm used to it from soccer so I don't even notice it anymore.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 04:07 (thirteen years ago)

yeah everyone knew the nuggs would roll once that early stretch of games was out of the way
