it's crazy to me that all the TV analysts still say that "you need to dominate the heat down low" despite everyone saying that from the start of the big 3 era and it never having been proved as a way to beat them

chuck just called the clippers the fourth best team in the west -_-

have the heat played a team in the playoffs with any kind of personnel capable of dominating down low?

Vucevic having 45 rebounds in a game vs. them was a bit of an eye opener

the pacers for sure, who gave them a run but ultimately got steamrolled

yeah but then you watch them in a game like tonight where they're at full strength (give or take a gimpy battier) and exerting max effort and the size thing suddenly looks like a complete misnomer. they beat the lakers easily tonight at the end of the game in a small vs big match up (partly cuz they could just beat dwight)

still the best way to beat the heat imo is to have a bunch of three point shooters... that's always been their weakness in the big 3 era because they rotate so aggressively, despite everyone's insistence that they'd be weak defending the paint

that's why the mavs beat them and that's why i think they lucked out when OKC beat the spurs last year and it's why the knicks slaughtered them twice this year

heat are starting to creep up into the top 10 in defensive efficiency for the season btw

it's kind of a moot point cuz we're in a weird era where a lot of the best big men in the league are on shitty teams

with the way he's played this year plus his injuries he's not going to bring back anything for them that's going to significantly alter their season imo

hes 32 years old and shooting 40% for the season

lag∞n massive thank you for posting that picture. I remember talking with that dude at an Indy/Lakers Finals game more than a decade ago and could never figure out who the fuck it was! Had always assumed that he was some rich old actor; never really knew how to Google search "actor who goes to Lakers games." Now I know: James Goldstein, NBA Superfan.

Also just about any team in the league would love to have Pau lurking around the post / hitting step-back Js if he has to. He might be a little banged up, but if the Olympics were any indication (and assuming he hasn't sustained some kind of new injury this season), dude still has it and his # drops probably say more about how the Lakers use him than they do about him. Plus, isn't his contract, as big as it is, still more desirable than Dwight's?
