xpost Compu, was looking through Pacers stats (http://www.82games.com/1213/1213IND.HTM) and wow, they heavily depend on that starting 5. may be the team that most uses his starting lineup (also POR) or am i wrong?
when Granger comes back they can have one of the best (positive) top 6 in the league?

iirc the Granger-West-Hibs-Hill-PGeorge lineup last year had the best +/- of any starting group in the league.

Granger is our Gay/Monta/Carmelo/scorer with little regard for efficiency. Normally, this is bad! There was a piece written a few months ago about the phenomenon of non-efficient scorers who somehow make their team more efficient on the whole, and I think Granger might be one of those guys. W/o prepping to play without Granger at the beginning of the season, the Pacers were a comically bad offensive team; not that the starting unit wasn't loaded with scorers -- all five dudes starting now can put up 20 pts on a given night -- but rather that they always relied on Granger to take a lot of the junk shots. The best non-efficient scorers are bailout scorers, guys like Melo, Granger, Gay, etc., who can get their jumpshot off easily and hit at a rate that won't sink the team. Basically, Granger takes the tough shots so West/Hib can score easier buckets down low, and PG/GHill can hit spot-up threes or make smart cuts to the basket for easy layups.

Heh, after spending all this time banging on about Lance, nice to see him finally getting closer looks from statheads / happy that stats are bearing out what I'm seeing. My heart of hearts wants Granger to come back 100% and used as a 6th man so the bench has some scoring opportunities. They're a really strong defensive unit, but unless Tyler does a good job Tylering up the game, there are zero scorers. Lance's talents are lost on them; Paul George can have disastrous games when it falls on him and him only to score. But, Granger would fit in nicely w/ that 2nd unit and give them the jump-shooter they need. Of course, this would absolutely never happen, unless Vogel cloaks the decision as an easing-in of Granger back to playing.

Dammit didn't watch the game last night, but very happy to see Paul George doing what he's done for the past two months now-- highlights / defense / offense. Shit was looking baaaaaad at the beginning of the season; like where things stand now (basically at top of the league in rebounding and points-allowed) even with our #1 scorer out + Hibbert playing with an injured right hand all season.

Love the Spurs signing Aron Baynes, he's a nasty dunker and I never got why he didn't get drafted/wasn't a bigger deal.

The Maloofs are finalizing an agreement to sell the Sacramento Kings to the Hansen-Ballmer led Seattle group, sources tell Yahoo! Sports.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:40 (thirteen years ago)

i mean... trading the thunder for the kings kinda sucks but BASKETBALL

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:41 (thirteen years ago)

ya the nba needs the soncis

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:42 (thirteen years ago)

Agree, I used to be all for the Kings but screw that. Warriors can always use more fans.

trad goon (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:42 (thirteen years ago)

in 20 years the thunder will prob be moving to vegas or wherever

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:43 (thirteen years ago)

well that's quick

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
The deal will sell the Kings for approximately $500 million, with the Seattle group seeking relocation to Key Arena for the 2013-'14 season.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:46 (thirteen years ago)

right on

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:46 (thirteen years ago)

too bad about the whole part where the team is the kings, though

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:47 (thirteen years ago)

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:47 (thirteen years ago)

Bullets Forever ‏@BulletsForever
Looks like the Sacramento Kings will be sold for approximately 4.5 Gilbert Arenas contracts.

lawl

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:49 (thirteen years ago)

the kings have "pieces" like the wizards had "pieces" but i think that team is rotten at its core and that some of those guys need to splinter off in order to thrive

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:49 (thirteen years ago)

oh yeah there are trades and buyouts in order for sure

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:50 (thirteen years ago)

lol remember when the kings had the 'most loyal' fans in the nba during the jwill/cwebb era

乒乓, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 18:51 (thirteen years ago)

these fans are so loyal to this incredibly successful fun basketball team how nice
