I really hope this means they give Sanders and Henson huge minutes
― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 05:40 (thirteen years ago)
has here ever been a career like bosh's? an elite player in the prime of his career willingly taking a secondary role and seeing his numbers plummet? (i realize he's playing pretty well this year)
― fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 8 January 2013 05:40 (thirteen years ago)
pierce garnett and allens number all did some plummeting when they joined up
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 05:42 (thirteen years ago)

I don't really think the Bucks are underperforming (.500 sounds about right for them) so I wonder what drove this. Why now?

― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 06:40 (thirteen years ago)
Especially when you remember that he was a guard.
― pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 8 January 2013 07:11 (thirteen years ago)
always figured that was mcmillan's problem. dude constantly feuded with/aliented his pg's, never had much to say at all about frontcourt guys.
― Clay, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 07:13 (thirteen years ago)
with like a very obvious if unspoken "why can't these guys just play the why i played damnit" vibe.
― Clay, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 07:14 (thirteen years ago)
Why now?
3 seasons PHX4 seasons + 25 games CHI4 seasons + 32 games MIL

We're at the tipping point where, instead of it being hard to believe that the Lakers won't make the playoffs, itmay be harder to believe that they will. It sounds crazy for a team with so many veteran stars, but consider: the Nuggets right now are in the 8th spot with a winning percentage of .556. That translates into a 46-win season. Over the last three 82-game seasons, 46 wins is the lowest threshold for making the Western Conference postseason, so it's perfectly reasonable to expect that pace to be the price of admission. For the Lakers to collect 46 wins this season, they have to go 31-18 the rest of the way. That's 31-18 without Dwight Howard or Pau Gasol for the foreseeable future. That's 31-18 for a team that, to date, has played the 19th hardest schedule, which means the rest of the way is going to be tougher, not easier. That's winning darn near two of every three games for an old team -- Kobe's words, not mine -- that is 5-7 overall in back-to-back games and has 10 more to go. I know, Lakers fans, a lot can happen between now and then, the Black Mamba still wears purple-and-gold, etc. For now, it's still harder for me to wrap my head around the Lakers in the lottery than making a charge and sneaking into the postseason, too, but the cold, hard facts suggest otherwise. Might be time to start preparing for that harsh reality.

"That's testy? That's testy?" Celtics rookie Jared Sullinger asek. "I've seen way worse stuff in the '80s and I wasn't even born in the '80s. So, if that's testy, I didn't see it."
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 8 January 2013 14:36 (thirteen years ago)
"I'm going to let y'all figure that one out," Rivers said. "I'm going to stay out of that. If it was the playoffs, I'd tell on him, but since it's not, I'm going to just be quiet."
