Dammit would've loved some live-action blogging of this game. Apologies that you saw probably the worst Pacers game since the first week. George Hill was out, and the Pacers offense just doesn't work w/ DJ Augustin in there; Augustin has easily been the biggest disappointment for the Pacers this season, and no one should have to watch the Pacers play an Augustin-led game.

How vocal was Vogel? Feel like he's one of the consistently loudest coaches in the league. Hear any fun chatter? Looked like things were getting kinda personal in that 4th quarter, esp. w/ Hbro being very Hbro the whole game. Paul George / Lance Stephenson look good live? Feel like no one has noticed that Paul George has made a big jump this last month, esp. watching his perimeter defense-- dude has been getting a ton of smart steals.

Speaking of which, totally forgot how joyful watching Avery Bradley's perimeter D can be. One of the few NBA players whose D demonstrably rattles opposing players. Glad he's back.

yeah the pacers looked awful for the most part, particularly the guard play. stephenson and augustin ranged from invisible to actively bad. david west got some easy baskets but looking now his overall shooting was as bad as everyone else's so idk. basically they might not have any viable guards other than hill.

things definitely escalated after that dumb flagrant 2 call on garnett. sadly i was too far away to hear anything but vogel did get t'd up so maybe that's in character.

on the celtics side it was indeed great to see bradley, he's super rusty on offense (had no idea where to be in a couple sets and his shot is off) but the defense is still there. love seeing sullinger rebound and battle but he's got some holes in his game re: scoring near the basket and playing one-on-one defense.

celtics have to give serious minutes to two black holes in collins and jeff green. green in partic i have no idea what he was even doing most of the time.

Yeah, was bummed to watch the game and see Lance not play better-- dude has made a major step this season. Basically, his game only works when he's in there w/ the starters since the bench players can't handle his passes. He's got a crazy bball IQ but it's only applicable when he can make crazy no-look bullet passes to people like Granger/West/PGeorge/GHill. Otherwise, it's an instant turnover. Heh, during the game Augustin made one of the worst telegraphed behind-the-back passes I've ever seen. Would love to find a way to package Augustin/Sam Young for what Augustin was supposed to be: a serviceable packup PG. Honestly, would be awesome to have a shoot-first, driving-oriented pg in there and just let Hbro and Manhimi pound the offensive glass.

But bummed you had to see that. I swear Indy is a really fun team to watch now! Last night's game was awful to watch-- had to turn it off early 4th quarter. Esp. since there isn't much joy in watching Garnett sink 18-20 ft jumpers over and over again.

fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Sunday, 6 January 2013 01:29 (thirteen years ago)

The Celtics are infuriating. They come out in the second half aggressive & hustling and the Hawks big lead disappears. Imagine if they started the game like that; might not fall behind by 18. The inconsistent effort just pisses me off.

lots of announcers do that

d-will is 5/8 tonight from the field. if he keeps up this blistering pace it'll be the third time this season he's shot over 50% in a game

“Those guys on the Clippers team. They really enjoy each other off the court and it shows,” Howard said Saturday after Lakers practice.

And how about the Lakers? Do they have that chemistry yet?

“It’s something we have to do to get better,” he said. “We have to play like we like each other. Even if we don’t want to be friends off the court, whatever that may be, when we step in between the lines or we step in the locker room or the gym, we have to respect each other and what we bring to the table."

Clay, Sunday, 6 January 2013 03:09 (thirteen years ago)

what is wrong with dwight ffs dude

Clay, Sunday, 6 January 2013 03:10 (thirteen years ago)

18 rebounds for Vucevic tonight. I guess rebounding is just something he's good at.
