I think you're kinda forgetting how Magic was a physical force similar to Bron. Magic wasn't really a great ballhandler (probably a little worse than Bron really), but he was 6'9, fast and strong so it allowed him to use his passing skills and his incredible feel for the game.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 31 December 2012 22:32 (thirteen years ago)

magic was a great argument for the giant point guard, it must be sweet to back down little guards and be able to look and pass right over the top of people

questionable motor (agent hibachi), Monday, 31 December 2012 22:34 (thirteen years ago)

i remember seeing one episode of the magic show where magic and whoever the first guest was were just lecherously fawning over tyra banks who was on second, it was suposed to be all in good fun but it felt a lil too real

lag∞n, Monday, 31 December 2012 22:34 (thirteen years ago)

^^^I REMEMBER THIS IT WAS WEIRD

was the guest arsenio??? or did the same thing happen on arsenio

lag∞n, Monday, 31 December 2012 22:38 (thirteen years ago)

obvs skills are not the ultimate arbiter of greatness but as far as all time greats theres something particularly crude abt bron

― lag∞n, Monday, December 31, 2012 4:47 PM (55 minutes ago)

dude wtf he's an amazing passer and ballhandler for his size/position, likewise but less so as a rebounder, probably one of the best wing defenders ever...he's basically a walking advertisement for what a basketball player should look like. you're using some kind of arbitrary standard for "basketball skills" i'm unaware of

fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Monday, 31 December 2012 22:47 (thirteen years ago)

also this has nothing to do w/ this particular argument but bron is shooting 77% at the rim this year...

fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Monday, 31 December 2012 22:48 (thirteen years ago)

bron is just big hes not good at basketball sry case closed

Vucevic has 13-16-1-3-1 2 minutes into the 3rd

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 31 December 2012 23:31 (thirteen years ago)

I think that Vucevic got around five rebounds on the same play. Tipping it up and up and over and up and in.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 00:09 (thirteen years ago)

they gave him 4 on that I think

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 00:10 (thirteen years ago)

25 rebounds with 6 minutes left

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 00:10 (thirteen years ago)

wow

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 00:11 (thirteen years ago)

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 00:39 (thirteen years ago)

some other stats from that game

bron 17 pts in the 4th
wade 3-10 from the line

fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 1 January 2013 01:03 (thirteen years ago)

holy shit harden

fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 1 January 2013 01:04 (thirteen years ago)

18-8-6-4-2 for kemba tonight, dude is just quietly a very solid player

fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 1 January 2013 01:11 (thirteen years ago)

I think I mentioned this upthread but kemba rules and his stats for December are pretty eye-popping.

Clay, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 01:12 (thirteen years ago)

19.9 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 6.1 apg, 46-38-77%s, throw in 1.5spg.

Clay, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 01:15 (thirteen years ago)

I think it's mostly that he shot 36% from the floor on the year last year. 46 is a leap. And 30 to 38% for three b/w last year and this.

Clay, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 01:17 (thirteen years ago)

pj tucker is playing some amazing defense on durant

fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 1 January 2013 01:34 (thirteen years ago)

fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 1 January 2013 01:39 (thirteen years ago)

10.5 FTA/36 for harden in december

fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 1 January 2013 01:46 (thirteen years ago)

one of the painful things about the nba draft is that sometimes guys learn to shoot (Kemba?) and sometimes they just don't (Rubio?)

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 01:49 (thirteen years ago)

btw remember when the 2011 draft was supposedly super terrible

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 01:50 (thirteen years ago)

yeah that was pretty obviously wrong about halfway into last season. kyrie, faried, klay thompson, kemba, kawhi all look like solid starters for the foreseeable future

fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 1 January 2013 02:16 (thirteen years ago)

plus you have a bunch of solid role players on top of that

fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 1 January 2013 02:18 (thirteen years ago)

kyrie kemba klay kanter kawhi... reads like a list of roger clemens's kids

fiscal cliff paul (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 1 January 2013 02:20 (thirteen years ago)

should start a boy band

always these projections of overall draft quality are meaningless, couple guys pan out and it swings the balance

lol @ clemens comment

dead cera (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 1 January 2013 10:56 (thirteen years ago)

“I [have] to be inventive and find ways,” Carlisle said. “I don’t have a better answer than that. The last week, I’ve had to literally scream in the face of two guys in practices and shootarounds to get the point across. And I will continue to do that.

“If I have to start suspending guys for not doing things they’re supposed to be doing on the court, I’ll do it. And Mark and I will get into it about that. But somehow, things have got to change and it can’t just be about that it’s a tough schedule. It just can’t.”

moullet, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 16:20 (thirteen years ago)

it cant just be about its a tough schedule and a mediocre team

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 16:23 (thirteen years ago)

The mediocre team was winning through sheer effort earlier this season. The lack of effort of late is telling (see also Celtics, Boston) so I'm happy to hear Carlisle isn't accepting that from the Mavs.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 16:26 (thirteen years ago)

they were kinda winning through oj mayo shooting 20% above his lifetime 3pt average

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 16:43 (thirteen years ago)

that was a huge part of it. But they also moved the ball well, and made quick and proper defensive rotations. That isn't happening of late.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 16:47 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i mean its carlilses job to not take any excuses but theyre just not a great team and theyve had a tough recent schedule, also they havent played very well, they can prob be okay once dirk is up to speed

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 16:50 (thirteen years ago)

If they can get and stay healthy, they could be a lower tier playoff team and maybe nab a game or two. This is not a team likely to make the second round.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 1 January 2013 16:52 (thirteen years ago)

ya especially since the west is so stacked this year
