small-scale fux with (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Sunday, 23 December 2012 06:14 (thirteen years ago)

Kobe takes 41 shots, the most FGA in a game since 2008 (kobe). He only took 46 shots in the 81 pt game.

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 23 December 2012 06:23 (thirteen years ago)

I remember hearing someone criticize the Bynum-to-Philly trade from the angle that Bynum, for as talented as he is, really, really wasn't a leader, and that a good team can't have an immature asshat as their #1 player.

Watching the Kings earlier this year, I can't remember seeing a better argument for having "character guys" on a team. There's one of the more talented teams in the West, but watching them off the ball / deadball moments was a master-class in leaderless basketball, and this whole Demarcus Cousins thing is such a non-surprise. They need to blow up that roster or move some young talent for old headz. Demarcus should be a 22/11 guy for the next ten years and it depresses me that there's a chance he'll never play a meaningful game if he's never paired w/ a respected veteran.

ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Sunday, 23 December 2012 19:40 (thirteen years ago)

They're not that talented

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 23 December 2012 20:15 (thirteen years ago)

TRob- classic Bill Self tweener bust
DMC- Great rebounder, great hustle, has no idea how to score in any efficient way at all. Basically Kevin Love without the shooting.
Isaiah Thomas/Aaron Brooks/Jimmer Fredette-mishmash of guys who are probably sixth men
Tyreke Evans- headcase
Jason Thompson- ok role player
Marcus Thornton- decent 2 guard

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 23 December 2012 20:18 (thirteen years ago)

i feel for hayes :(
hes championship piece material

moullet, Sunday, 23 December 2012 20:23 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah the kings are sorta fool's gold but you can see how each piece would be pretty valuable on literally any other team.

Clay, Sunday, 23 December 2012 21:28 (thirteen years ago)

They're off-the-charts talented, but basically no one plays up to potential because the de-facto vet leader is John fucking Salmons. Understand that none of their four best players have played in the NBA for more than three seasons, and the experience they do have is killing time every night playing for a team nobody wants to play for because it's being led by a bunch of immature, head-case players. Cousins, Thornton and Evans all have all-star level talent, but atm they're just learning each other's bad habits. Feel like Thomas is severely underrated, too-- whenever I watch them play, he seems like the only player w/ any emotional investment in the game.

I mean, it took two solid years of babysitting for Lance Stephenson to even begin reaching some of his potential-- shit takes a lot of time and a lot of effort from the org and surrounding players. If Evans/Cousins/Thornton had the same support, I think they'd be best of the rest in the West.

xps feel bad for Hayes, too. Wonder if he even lets his son watch the Kings games. Kinda want him to peace out, move to China, continue Building His Brand there.

It's kinda nice when Love doesn't play for Minny since it gives Derrick Williams some burn. Feel like they'll coast into the playoffs since they held up so well w/o Love & Rubio, so they can afford to give their young guys as much court time as possible. Like, they're not getting a top 4 seed anyway, why not develop young talent.

Also, addendum to Kings ... I think Minny and Kings are the two youngest teams in the league, but last time I checked the official stats, Minny leads the league in Heavy Vibing per 36 Minutes, and Kings easily leading the Bumming Out per 36.

BTW I'd love to know the record for most games started to begin a career (discounting games missed). Chris Paul is 511/511 for Games Started / Games Played.

Is pek a max guy at this point? (When answering plz remember Max Hibbert)

Clay, Monday, 24 December 2012 05:58 (thirteen years ago)

everyone is a max player if u BELIEVE u r a max player
-- bob marley

Todd Terragh - "It's the Harps" (m bison), Monday, 24 December 2012 15:51 (thirteen years ago)

could see pek resigned by the wolves at somewhere slightly under the max type situation

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vW7Z20fJH6I (lag∞n), Monday, 24 December 2012 15:58 (thirteen years ago)

aka build around pek and Rubio and never get past 7th seed ever money

Todd Terragh - "It's the Harps" (m bison), Monday, 24 December 2012 15:59 (thirteen years ago)

trade unrequited love for spare parts, its a good plan

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vW7Z20fJH6I (lag∞n), Monday, 24 December 2012 16:00 (thirteen years ago)

pek is a "max player" but not sure he's worth the investment

k3vin k., Monday, 24 December 2012 17:20 (thirteen years ago)

the fact that that sentence makes any sense is proof the system is still broken
eliminate max salaries now imo

Todd Terragh - "It's the Harps" (m bison), Monday, 24 December 2012 21:17 (thirteen years ago)

I would max pek out w/o reservations I he didn't have injury problems

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 24 December 2012 21:51 (thirteen years ago)

averaging 3.2 TO in only 38.2 MIN per game?? we must all agree that this is not a stat of godlike perfection. it betrays an all-too-human excellence.
