Ricky Rubio is "angling to play" and make his debut on Friday, but the more likely scenario is for Rubio to return on December 15, a source tells Darren Wolfson 1500 ESPN.

Hurrah! ESPN UK finally sorts out a deal to show NBA games this season. Of course they're mainly on during the middle of the night but dvr and watch later is no problem. Lakers/Thunder here I come.

this is kind of fascinating

k3vin k., Friday, 7 December 2012 20:10 (thirteen years ago)

Ha, I read that earlier. Made my brain hurt.

pandemic, Friday, 7 December 2012 20:34 (thirteen years ago)

a basic takeaway that makes a lot of sense that i'd never thought of before: if you've got 2 players, a guard and a big, who each shoot 45% from midrange, you'd prefer to have the guard take those shots because his misses are more likely to be rebounded by his team

k3vin k., Friday, 7 December 2012 21:11 (thirteen years ago)

how long b4 full-blown dwight meltdown

Toward the end of shootaround Friday, Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Nash approached Dwight Howard and offered up a couple of tips on how to shoot free throws.

Though Howard is shooting just 46.9 percent from the foul line this season, while Nash is tied with Mark Price for the best free throw percentage in NBA history at 90.4 percent, the Lakers center said he's had enough of people giving him advice.

"Listen, he was just suggesting some things, but it's not something that we've already talked about or anybody else has suggested," Howard said. "My mind cannot get clouded with everybody telling me how to shoot a free throw. I just have to go up there and shoot it my way and not get caught up in what everybody else is saying, because that's when I miss."

its true that dwight should prob just have one shooting coach and everyone else should stfu, but also hes always gonna be terrible at free throws

lag∞n, Friday, 7 December 2012 21:42 (thirteen years ago)

and the things that work for regular sized extremely coordinated human steve nash might not work for hulking man child dwight howard

lag∞n, Friday, 7 December 2012 21:43 (thirteen years ago)

dwight did fwiw shoot by far his best ft% his rookie season so he might be onto something

Dan (CA)

I just looked at Austin Rivers stats so far this year... GAAAAAAAAHHHHHH NOOOOO. What is going on with him?
John Hollinger (12:27 PM)

My big worries about Rivers were that he didn't have the athleticism to cut it in the NBA as a slasher, and that he wasn't a good enough shooter to make up for it. That seems to be the case so far. But that said, keep in mind that there's a long history in this league of rookie guards getting absolutely slaughtered, before emerging in year 2 as a real basketball player.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 8 December 2012 02:20 (thirteen years ago)

Javale goes 9-9 with 20 and 8 but he has one bad turnover so lol look at this gif smh
