i wonder if harden will ever be a good defender tho, he has kinda slow feet

well harden's a max player because half of the teams in the nba would give him the max. he's not exactly brook lopez or something. whether or not he'll be a top 10 player in the nba is still open for discussion i guess. i'd take him over carmelo & wade (2012 version) for sure tho.

the positional ranking thing is def. dumb btw, it's the same logic that got Eric Gordon his huge deal. Just go by overall player value.

i think judging based on the market for max guys is a mistake as a lot of them are actually a drag on their teams via not getting value for their cap dollars, you really only want to sign guys who are capable of producing wins at a rate befitting their salaries

well you have to strike a balance because if you openly defy the market you will lose too many assets

also if you just sign them to market value you can trade them later. This is one of the thing Ujiri has done that I really like.

like re-signing Wilson Chandler was pretty flagrantly "whatever, we'll just trade him later."

yeah and harden is the type of player where you give into the market because at worst he's a slight overpay as a max player unlike, idk, igoudala or rudy gay (even these are arguable to a point)

a lot of max guys end of being untradable tho

like rather than signing an iffy max guy sign two cheaper guys is the way to go, tho obvs theres all sorts of contingencies where teams gets better terms for resigning their own guys and wouldnt otherwise be able to spend that cash, and obvs max contracts actually cost wildly different amounts depending on how long a guys been in the league

i mean obvs theres no easy way to go abt it, just find good deals, lol

ha yeah, agreed that what ujiri has done is v interesting in that he signed guys w/the intention of trading them soon, which while risky mitigates it somewhat in that guys values dont usually change over night, hibbert excepted

hibbert will prob come around i imagine, not that he was that good in the first place

The Warriors confirmed Tuesday that Bogut had microfracture surgery, about seven months after claiming an arthroscopic surgery "to clean out loose particles and bone spurs" was a success and he should "return to basketball-related activities" in July.

Myers said there was no intent to deceive on the extent Bogut's April surgery, which the player made known Tuesday involved a microfracture procedure.
