nuggs FT shooting so bad, wtf

liljon /bia/ bia (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 04:31 (thirteen years ago)

thabo has now shot well from three in his career for a grant total of four months. but yeah, teams will def have to be guarding him in the playoffs

― J0rdan S., Tuesday, November 27, 2012 4:14 AM (29 minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

it's almost like he's gotten better at it

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 04:44 (thirteen years ago)

and not to be a smug pedant or anything but before last season he had months where he shot the 3 well

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 04:47 (thirteen years ago)

e.g. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4141/splits?year=2009&type=Fielding

Hey maybe it's all just variance! But it sure seems like he's a different dude since the lockout and leaving him wide open for three isn't a great idea.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 04:49 (thirteen years ago)

unless you were one of the teams the thunder faced in the playoffs last year

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 04:51 (thirteen years ago)

ryan anderson just fuckin bombs away

liljon /bia/ bia (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 04:54 (thirteen years ago)

oh yeah I forgot about the playoffs, where chris bosh revealed himself as a three point marksman in 2 games or whatever, good point

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 04:54 (thirteen years ago)

looking forward to chris bosh rallying from his 2-12 start from 3 this year

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 04:57 (thirteen years ago)

definitely one of the things we'll all remember about the nba lockout was how thabo sefalosha became a knockdown three-point shooter left open by opponents at their own peril

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 04:59 (thirteen years ago)

the thunder, btw, played half as many games in the playoffs as they did in the regular season. it's a completely valid sample.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:04 (thirteen years ago)

chris bosh's entire career a marginally important sample

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:06 (thirteen years ago)

thabo's shooting 55 percent on corner threes this season, seems entirely sustainable and in no way will come down whatsoever

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:07 (thirteen years ago)

if you sum his playoff and regular season three point shooting he shot 39%

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:08 (thirteen years ago)

since the start of last season he's shot 41% from 3, but I don't know what he's shot on corner threes and whether it's sustainable

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:10 (thirteen years ago)

i actually wonder what the largest jump in three point percentage is in the history of the nba in seasons 7 & 8 of a guy's career -- six points if he plateaus at 39 seems like it would be pretty unique but maybe that's totally off

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:16 (thirteen years ago)

Didn't Bowen have a similar jump?

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:16 (thirteen years ago)

stockton sucked at 3 point shooting for a while

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:16 (thirteen years ago)

Stockton is a good call. Took him 6 or 7 years to be good from deep.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:18 (thirteen years ago)

Bird wasn't a 3 point shooter until his 6th season

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:19 (thirteen years ago)

every important guard/wing on the thunder w/ the exception of maynor is shooting well above their career averages in three-point shooting, even westbrook. should come down a bit for some of them (tho KD's seems sustainable because he's KD and martin bcuz he's getting so many open looks) but it's something noteworthy to track.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:19 (thirteen years ago)

except for his rookie season, strangely xp

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:19 (thirteen years ago)

wow those bird numbers are remarkable -- excepting his rookie season he didn't shoot above 29% until he was 28 then he didn't dip below 40% until he was 33

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:21 (thirteen years ago)

hmm nice game from Thabeet...

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 05:56 (thirteen years ago)

it looks like Thabeet could be marginally ok someday

kidd?

liljon /bia/ bia (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 14:27 (thirteen years ago)

i guess he's always been kinda up and down but there's a definite trend

liljon /bia/ bia (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 14:28 (thirteen years ago)

i predict thabeet will continue to excel at uncontested dunks w/his team up 40

turning thabeet into a competent player would be the greatest trick presti ever pulled

As if more evidence was needed to prove the Suns training staff is awesome, Jermaine O'Neal is averaging 18 minutes a night with a 20.68 PER

feel like suns should pick up oden, bynum, roy

moullet, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 16:42 (thirteen years ago)

why havent other teams a. hired members of the suns training staff b. adopted their techniques

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 16:43 (thirteen years ago)

suns secret technique is just dropping them in the middle of a desert w/o water and forcing them to find their way back to training camp

excited for the day when we find out that the suns training staff consists of some weird foreign doctor making up crazy drugs.

they tried!

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 16:53 (thirteen years ago)

it's true tho... "the suns training staff" is this mystical thing & yet no one knows anything about them? neither sports illustrated nor espn has ever done a feature? idgi

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 16:54 (thirteen years ago)

the system they use is called sport kinesiology iirc, its abt testing all the diff muscle groups and figuring out where youre strong and where youre weak and then woking to make the weak parts strong

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:05 (thirteen years ago)

oh hmm

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:06 (thirteen years ago)

i remember shaq talking abt how they found out his ass was like 60% fat and made him do all sorts exercises to correct that which is p lol

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:07 (thirteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:10 (thirteen years ago)

this is the guy i think: http://www.nba.com/coachfile/aaron_nelson/index.html?nav=page

moullet, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:16 (thirteen years ago)

i would trade a lot of players for aaron nelson

moullet, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:17 (thirteen years ago)

but just like hire one of his assistants idgi nba

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:18 (thirteen years ago)

it's weird that a franchise can do everything so poorly but do one thing better than anytime in the league and it's not even close

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:19 (thirteen years ago)

jeff green for aaron nelson ?
