Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
Toronto and DeMar DeRozan have made progress today in talks on a 4-year extension, but no deal yet in place, league sources tell Y! Sports.

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 19:03 (thirteen years ago)

sure why not. he's one of the best players in the whole country

moullet, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 19:07 (thirteen years ago)

colangelo seems hellbent on destroying a team that could actually somehow be good

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 19:07 (thirteen years ago)

5/80 for harden, per woj

all mods con (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 19:09 (thirteen years ago)

eric gordon: marcus thornton with constant injuries

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 19:54 (thirteen years ago)

there's nothing wrong with re-signing Derozan. Re-signing ok players is ok. But they'll pay him too much cuz it's Colangelo.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 19:56 (thirteen years ago)

gsw-phx (just kidding)

pau doesn't hit threes also bosh is the best big man in the league cutting to the hoop (i learned this yesterday reading SI's nba preview issue which has an arguably unnecessarily long spread on the pick & roll)

bosh doesn't hit threes either

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:06 (thirteen years ago)

the boston celtics would beg to differ

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:07 (thirteen years ago)

Bosh made 66 threes in 9 NBA seasons

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:08 (thirteen years ago)

pau hit 7 last year and Bosh hit 10

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:08 (thirteen years ago)

anyway even if he's not a knockdown 3 point shooter (which he may not be) he's made enough/showed that range to the point that he has to be guarded out there by bigs, which is kind of the point anyway

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:08 (thirteen years ago)

"which he may not be"

he's hit 66 threes in 9 NBA seasons at 29% wtf dude

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:09 (thirteen years ago)

well obviously i'm talking about bosh and the heat talking about him expanding his range out to the point and projecting a bit for this season based on him shooting 5-10 from three in the playoffs after he got back from his injury

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:14 (thirteen years ago)

i'm not saying that he's gonna be dirk on the perimeter or something but he has to be guarded out the three line if he's standing there and can hit that shot

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:15 (thirteen years ago)

i don't think teams would be too concerned about him out there. i'd rate him and pau about even overall.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:20 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i mean i'm not gonna go to the mat defending bosh over pau... they're definitely in the same realm

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:22 (thirteen years ago)

you're saying that he's a more diverse offensive player than Pau because he can "hit threes" but he has shown no ability to do this on any consistent basis. Pau shot 40% from three in the playoffs, but everyone knows that a sample size of 5 shots doesn't mean crap. 10 shots doesn't mean crap either.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:25 (thirteen years ago)

imo bosh has a long way to go to be compared to pau on off (as a 2 way player too)

moullet, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:25 (thirteen years ago)

not really sure if metta can ball; playoff time hell be ready tho

well if pau shooting threes was part of the lakers' offense (and it maybe it should be!) maybe it would mean more. there's been public indications that the heat plan to use bosh as a spacer out to and past the three point line where he can hit shots.

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:28 (thirteen years ago)

who you gonna believe, training camp hype or your lyin' eyes

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:31 (thirteen years ago)

well my eyes tell me he can hit threes now but i guess we'll see!

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:31 (thirteen years ago)

i mean i'm not basing this all on 10 shots of course but the combination of him taking and hitting shots in the playoffs as a concerted part of his game (not, like, end of shot clock heaving) and the fact that he's one of the absolute top mid range shooters in the league who should have little trouble extending his range to the three line if he worked on it in the offseason.

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:32 (thirteen years ago)

my eyes look at his basketball reference page

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:35 (thirteen years ago)

i may be totally wrong on this, we'll see in like 60 games. i'm betting on bosh having a really big year.

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:36 (thirteen years ago)

as long as the heat employ 4 3-pt specialists i don't really see bosh extending his range. they already pay guys to do nothing but stand in the corner.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:36 (thirteen years ago)

it's ok to say that Bosh will hit threes in the future or something but to claim that he's superior to Pau in this area because of 5 threes in the playoffs and some positive comments from coaches in training camp is very homer of you

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:37 (thirteen years ago)

okay, i'll retract my statement that bosh is currently a better three point shooter than pau at the moment.

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:43 (thirteen years ago)

i think bosh has more range than pau (and he is quicker w/his shot plus actually jumps when shooting...both of which help in being a longish range threat) but yeah yet to be seen whether he becomes a legit concern behind the line for opposing teams

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:43 (thirteen years ago)

this is the least excited i've been about Bulls season opener since the Eddie Robinson/Ron Mercer era. they're not even playing an interesting opponent (kings).

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 20:59 (thirteen years ago)

pau > bosh

lag∞n, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 21:34 (thirteen years ago)

Kings are hella interesting to me because I am deranged

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 21:35 (thirteen years ago)

ugh god

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 21:35 (thirteen years ago)

i'm still scarred from the one half of wizards/kings that i watched last season

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 21:36 (thirteen years ago)

it sucks that the kings picked TRob, so boring

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 21:58 (thirteen years ago)

but Isaiah Thomas, Demarcus, Thornton, fuck yeah. Plus Jimmer is hilarious

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 21:58 (thirteen years ago)

so I'm haering harden is reupping for 5 years 80 mil?

乒乓, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 22:20 (thirteen years ago)

yep

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 22:22 (thirteen years ago)

pretty dece - I wonder if he got one of those backloaded contracts

乒乓, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 22:24 (thirteen years ago)

idk even what the strategic value of a backloaded contract would be

乒乓, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 22:24 (thirteen years ago)

There was a really great piece written during the playoffs last year about Artest & his ongoing regression, wish I could find it quickly. The crux of it was that Artest had finally lost something in his legs I think, and he was no longer had elite reaction time on defense. So, he went from All-NBA defender to Actually, You Should Probably Go at Him defender. For whatever reason, I came away w/ the impression that Artest probably wouldn't get his legs back and would have to coast on his defensive reputation; once teams found out, he'd basically be out of the league.

Wasn't watching that closely but he looked fine last night. Wish I could find the piece again ... I totally wrote off Artest after reading-- it was very persuasive!

lol @ Bosh being some developing 3pt specialist or something. He's a great offensive player for sure, but it doesn't hurt to have two of the greatest penetrators of the last 20 years driving -> kicking the ball over. IDK how Bosh is a more complete offensive player than Pau since Pau has a much more mature post-up game / better passing skillz. Bosh better at creating .gifs, tho.

ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 22:33 (thirteen years ago)

A more mature .gif game.
