i've been thinking about this recently - over the course of a long season, on a per-minute basis, he's not a top 10 player anymore. but at his peak, he's still a top 7ish player - he's capable of taking over a game, or stringing together 30 point games, like few other players. but he balances those out with his 7-23 nights. it's never as evident as in the playoffs, where he'll will himself into high-volume outputs, whether it helps or hurts the team

CHICAGO -- Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant will not play against the Chicago Bulls in a nationally-televised matchup here Thursday night.

The 36-year-old Bryant will sit out to rest for the second straight game, Lakers coach Byron Scott announced before the game.
