i think he's as selfish as he is legacy driven tho, jordan. maybe if he's pushing the all-time points scored record he'd hang around a few years for that? but i don't see him hanging on to sully his image as a player. (his image as a person is obv p gross already)
― Clay, Thursday, 23 June 2011 02:28 (twelve years ago) link
well, kobe is never gonna leave the lakers, but michael's situation was unique
― frogbracist (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 23 June 2011 02:29 (twelve years ago) link
i could see a 38 year old kobe playing 12 minutes a game for dwight's lakers
― frogbracist (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 23 June 2011 02:30 (twelve years ago) link
I think it's fascinating that he has no cartilage in his knee, could be entering the t-mac jump shooter phase of his career
― dayo, Thursday, 23 June 2011 02:33 (twelve years ago) link
he's got about 10,500 points to get to kareem, so i guess that isn't going to happen.
― Clay, Thursday, 23 June 2011 02:34 (twelve years ago) link
30 ppg @ 82 works out to 2460 points a season, yeah he'd need at least 5 more

There should be a "Kobe was never top 3" option.
C'mon, he wasn't better than Shaq or Duncan or Garnett. And now he's not better than LeBron or Wade or Howard etc.
― Godzilla vs. Rodan Rodannadanna (The Yellow Kid), Thursday, 23 June 2011 03:25 (twelve years ago) link
he was better than shaq in the last five years
― get at me frog (symsymsym), Thursday, 23 June 2011 06:01 (twelve years ago) link
There's a Brian Philips post about Federer where he talks about Kobe being at the "still" phase of his athletic career, like he can still get to the rim but it needs constant restating rather than being a central and obvious fact - pretty otm I think.

okay these eight are definitively better thank kobe imo, but after that it gets interesting
― frogbracist (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, June 22, 2011 10:13 PM (Yesterday)
if this is in order then dwight is too low, prob is #3 then dirk then cp3 then durant - these are basically all the players i could understand hearing the case for being better than kobe right now tho - melo is pushing it - but yeah kobles is in the 8-12 range right now

i was actually gonna start a "rank the top 10 players in the nba" thread or something - top 3 and like top 7 is pretty easy for me but then it's between like 20 ppl for the last couple spots

the great thing about the decline of kobe is that he'll continue taking 25 shots a game and have a high scoring average, so most people will still think he's awesome

i've been thinking about this recently - over the course of a long season, on a per-minute basis, he's not a top 10 player anymore. but at his peak, he's still a top 7ish player - he's capable of taking over a game, or stringing together 30 point games, like few other players. but he balances those out with his 7-23 nights. it's never as evident as in the playoffs, where he'll will himself into high-volume outputs, whether it helps or hurts the team

Despite its fame, the Moonlight Sonata is often considered a piece for intermediate piano students. It is actually pretty simple in its technical demands. Playing it well mostly consists of playing it with nuance and style.

CHICAGO -- Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant will not play against the Chicago Bulls in a nationally-televised matchup here Thursday night.
The 36-year-old Bryant will sit out to rest for the second straight game, Lakers coach Byron Scott announced before the game.
When asked if there was any particular injury hampering Bryant he said, "Old age."
