I'm wondering how much Kemba Walker is (literally) worth to Calhoun? Winning the Big East tournament and making it to the Final Four adds up to how much in bonuses for a coach? Six-figures?

Also, just saw the Kansas band playing on a boat drifting down the San Antonia river walk. Those kids seemed about as stoked to be there as the players are. There's so much to like about college sports generally, but I so love this tournament. I do wish there weren't so many commercials and Powerade and "AT&T at the Half"s brought to you by AT&T. And I really want Bill Self to lose.

as much as i would love VCU to win, i'd be kinda disappointed if the title game was an utter route

wavy g. wavegarten (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 27 March 2011 19:09 (fifteen years ago)

I see this game going to the wire as KU reestablishes inside game and VCU can't maintain 99.96% 3pt shooting. Fun fun fun fun

(;,;) (rip van wanko), Sunday, 27 March 2011 19:19 (fifteen years ago)

how does richmond beat vcu just as badly as ku beat richmond, and now this. crazy.

this country is domed (Hunt3r), Sunday, 27 March 2011 19:22 (fifteen years ago)

such a wtf game. markieff morris has ~6~ turnovers. probably the only one here, but i was pretty >:O at the charge on taylor's made basket when the defender was sliding into him.

circles, Sunday, 27 March 2011 19:35 (fifteen years ago)

gonna be distraught if they lose now.

moullet, Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:41 (fifteen years ago)

Guys I freely admit I dislike underdogs, but I'm just saying, the sheer mass of "Basketball isn't about flash or talent, it's about GRIT and HEART" and the David Ecksteins of basketball is going to be ridiculous in the run-up for VCU-Butler next week.

C-L, Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:42 (fifteen years ago)

lotta sad wite girls in the stands

i'm on the reichstag, baby, I was bahn this way (m bison), Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:44 (fifteen years ago)

idk i still feel like they need to put the 3 point line back -- i feel like 30% of ncaa tournies have featured a team shooting 50% from 3

wavy g. wavegarten (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:45 (fifteen years ago)

i mean, ffs:

Yeah, I can hit a college 3 pointer without my toes leaving the ground.

they just did tho

ice cr?m, Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:50 (fifteen years ago)

i know, again tho

wavy g. wavegarten (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:50 (fifteen years ago)

UCLA undergrad, mostly. There is a certain number of times you can watch a team storm the court after beating your team before you're just like "You know what, FUCK THE HORIZON LEAGUE"

xp they moved it back like 6 inches!

C-L, Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:51 (fifteen years ago)

it's so stupid -- there's prob like 50 guys in the nba right now who've been out of high school for less than four years & yet college juniors & seniors still get to shoot three pointers from like a foot closer

wavy g. wavegarten (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:51 (fifteen years ago)

Butler becomes the immediate favorite, due to the higher seed, amirite?

Aimless, Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:52 (fifteen years ago)

a foot, no - i mean they could move it back another foot - maybe like half way between high school and pros would make sense - i dont think you can make them shoot pro threes, theres just not enough talent

ice cr?m, Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:53 (fifteen years ago)

wikipedia always v fast w/this shit

At least one #1 seed has made the Final Four in every year except:

1980 – Louisville – #2 (champion), Iowa – #5, Purdue – #6, UCLA – #8
2006 — UCLA – #2, Florida – #3 (champion), LSU – #4, George Mason – #11
2011 — North Carolina/Kentucky – #2/#4, Connecticut – #3, Butler – #8, Virginia Commonwealth – #11

ice cr?m, Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:54 (fifteen years ago)

Ah it was a foot, from 19'9" to 20'9". NBA is 23'9", though.

22'3" seems like a reasonable compromise.

C-L, Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:55 (fifteen years ago)

FIBA is apptly 22'1" or so (6.75 m)

C-L, Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:56 (fifteen years ago)

lol no wai

kl0p's son (k3vin k.), Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:57 (fifteen years ago)

yeah around 22' seem a reasonable distance for college

ice cr?m, Sunday, 27 March 2011 20:57 (fifteen years ago)

NBA corner is like 22 even

one of the reasons they should expand the nba court imho, id make more space to play on the edges too - also they should add more room between the basket and the baseline open things up generally

ice cr?m, Sunday, 27 March 2011 21:02 (fifteen years ago)
